All-ages Movement Project

About Me

AMP is a network of community-based organizations that connect young people through independent music and art. .
It's like this: Every kid in every town deserves a safe space where they can be part of a likeminded creative community, where they can be empowered not just as consumers of music but as participants in the process of cultural production.
And yet, there's a ton of barriers that make it difficult to start and sustain youth music spaces. Many venues shut down after a couple years.
Anyone who's been running a successful organization or venue for a couple years is familiar with the steady stream of questions: "How did you make this happen? Why isn't there something like this in my town?" AMP exists so we can share our knowledge, pool our resources, learn from each others successes and failures, and truly build a movement.

My Interests

Music:

Band Website: http://www.allagesmovementproject.org
Band Members: Organizations that:

-Engage, empower young people, or are run by and for young people (13-30). Some AMP orgs are non-profits, some are collectives, a few are for-profit independent promoters.

-Produce shows, records, publications, videos, media, poetry or other sorts of programs with music (hip hop, rock, pop, punk, hardcore, electronic, etc)

-Encourage participation and action in your organization and community.

Basically, everything on the continuum from DIY underground artspaces to more traditional teen centers to hiphop nonprofits. There's no one right way to do it. Diversity = strength.
Influences: Where do we begin? Youth Movement Records, Neutral Zone, the Vera Project. Elementz, ABC No Rio, the Point, the Department of Safety, Che Cafe to name a few.
Sounds Like: the future
Type of Label: Indie
