Desde que nasceu,Marya foi rodeada de boa música. Aos quatro anos,incentivada por seus pais músicos, Lizzie Bravo e Zé Rodrix, começou a carreira cantando o jingle Cremogema. Desde então,Marya não parou mais de trabalhar e participou de discos de Egberto Gismonti, Roberto Carlos, Milton Nascimento entre outros.
Mudou-se para Nova Iorque com a mãe e fez o segundo grau com formação em teatro musical. Não se formou. Fez um teste aos 17 anos para uma turnê da peça HAIR pela Europa e passou. Ficou por la trabalhando como atriz por seis anos.Voltando ao Brasil,continuou trabalhando em musicais. Já participou de mais de 10 espetáculos incluindo Somos Irmãs, Cristal Bacharach, Lado a Lado com Sondheim, A Opera do Malandro (turnê em Portugal),foi Angela Maria no musical Cauby!Cauby!, está no elenco de "7 O Musical" de Charles Moeller e Claudio Botelho com trilha original de Ed Motta, e acabou de estreiar "Beatles num céu de Diamantes" tambem da dupla Moeller e Botelho.
No ano de 2000,fez um teste para vocalista de Marisa Monte e participou da turnê mundial Memórias,crônicas e declarações de amor assim como no DVD da mesma. Foi durante esse periodo,estando rodeada de excelentes músicos e uma atmosfera altamente musical,que Marya começou lentamente a trabalhar em seu disco solo. Participou tambem do disco e turnê Papo Macaco, de Davi Moraes.
Em 2004, foi convidada pra fazer um show e montou sua banda. Marya reuniu musicos de areas completamente diferentes indo da MPB ao hardcore underground do Rio. Nesse processo foi que realmente se definiu o conceito do trabalho e o tipo de som que ela queria fazer. A participação dos musicos,todos amigos de longa data,foi crucial para o nascimento do disco, e a produção musical de Carlos Trilha conseguiu dar vida á tudo que Marya tinha dentro de sua alma.
O repertório do disco é autoral,pincelado de musicas que influenciaram sua vida. Marya vem acompanhada de Cesinha na bateria, Carlos Trilha na produção musical e nos teclados, Nobru Pederneiras na guitarra e Daniel Martins no baixo.
Marya has been surrounded by good music since the day she was born. At age four, encouraged by her musician parents, Lizzie Bravo and Zé Rodrix, she started her career singing the Cremogema jingle in her hometown of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. From then on, Marya has been singing and recording with major Brazilian stars such as Egberto Gismonti, Roberto Carlos, Milton Nascimento, Djavan, Joyce and many others.
In 1984, Marya moved to New York City with her mother and attended the Talent Unlimited program at Julia Richman High School, studying musical theatre. At 17, Marya auditioned for the musical Hair in its European tour where she stayed for six years. Back in Brazil since 1995, she has worked in more than 10 musicals, including Somos Irmãs, Cristal Bacharach, Lado a Lado com Sondheim, A Opera do Malandro (Portugal tours of 2005 & 2006) was Angela Maria in the musical Cauby, Cauby, is in the cast of "7 The Musical" from Charles Moeller and Claudio Botelho with original score by Ed Motta, and just opened in the new musical "Beatles in the sky with Diamonds" also from Moeller and Botelho.
In the year 2000 she auditioned to be a backing vocalist for Marisa Monte and toured Brazil and the world with the show Memórias, Crônicas e Declarações de Amor as well as recording the DVD of the same tour. It was during that period, surrounded by excellent musicians and a highly musical atmosphere that Marya slowly began to work on her solo CD. She was also a part of Davi Moraes Papo Macaco tour.
In 2004, she was invited to do a solo show with her band. Marya gathered musicians from totally different backgrounds going from MPB (Brazilian Popular Music) to Rios hardcore underground sound. It was during this process that the concept for her work and the musical style she wanted to do was defined. Having these musicians, all long-time friends, was essential for the birth of the record, and musical producer Carlos Trilha was able to bring to life all that Marya had in her soul.
Most of the songs were written by Marya, along with some that were an influence in her life. Maryas band is: Cesinha on drums, Carlos Trilha ..boards and musical production, Nobru Pederneiras on guitar and Daniel Martins on bass.
