Messerschmitt

About Me

Formed in late 1987 by Miro Kusacic in Pula.
The first MC 'Lussy' was recorded in '88 in Zminj, followed by the first praises and numerous shows across entire ex-Yugoslavia. In 1989 Messerschmitt played their way to the finals of YURM (YU Rock Moment) - the biggest new-bands festival in ex-YU.
The first LP 'Foxxin'' was recorded in 1990 in Pula, welcomed by unconditional critics' support. All issued copies were quickly sold out and never re-issued for the record label ('Blind Dog Records') stopped working. After a brief break and a new line-up, Messerschmitt quickly returned lost positions on the scene and played numerous shows, including festivals on which the band appeared mostly as headliners. At the same time, Messerschmitt appeared on numerous LP and CD compilations, the most famous being 'Bombardiranje New Yorka' (Bombardment of New York). 1993 saw the band's second album: 'Shake That Thing', recorded on the same location as the first LP, for 'Slusaj Najglasnije' (Listen Loudest) label from Zagreb. The band promoted the new LP by touring Croatia and Slovenia massively, which culminated with the show at the 'Fiju Briju' festival in Zagreb. During the same year Messerschmitt were included in what seems to be the only true recorded document of new Croatian rock: the 'Trip Zone' LP. In 1995, by symbolically breaking the famous purple Gibson SG at the New Years celebration show in Pula, Kusacic brought an end to a short, but fruitful career of a band which definitely brought new views and perspectives in Croatian Rock'n'roll.
In 1996 Miro formed Opyum band whose work was mostly based on covers of various Blues and Rock'n'roll heroes. Opyum worked until 2002. In 2003 Miro Kusacic, accompanied by Sasa Petkovic Sale on drums and Rusmin Obic Rus on bass, reforms Messerschmitt and issues the third album 'Rockafe' on their own label - Messerschmitt Motors Records. The CD is still getting raving reviews all across Croatian anemic rock environment.
The beginning of 2005. finds Messerschmitt finishing their latest CD "Moonlight Starlight", recorded in "Black Dog" studio (ME). Also, the band gets their first opportunity of playing accross the Atlantic - in April 2005., Messerschmitt will play in Toronto ("Silver Dollar Room") on the 15th, and in Hamilton ("Absinthe") on the 16th. The band plans an intensive Croatian promotion tour, as well as prepares heavily for the Canada gigs. The words is out that most of Croatian early April charter flights to Canada are already sold out to the loyal Croatian fans that will follow the band to witness their Canadian performances.
