Hailing from Austria, Mexico, France and the U.S.A., the four members of Socadia consider Los Angeles their creative home. Stephan Martin, Arturo Peraza, Laszlo Bolender, and Dusty Schaller each left their true homes behind for the city of dreams and dreamers on a search of inner bliss. The four became fast friends, and their chemistry was immediate and electric.
Socadia channels their adventurous spirit and drive for fulfillment into moody, sexy, cathartic electronic rock that nods to influences such as Garbage, U2, DJ Shadow, Explosions in the Sky and Woven, fused with the intense passion and in-the-moment energy of Kerouac's "On The Road." Taking the phrase "live show" seriously, Socadia employs their electronics as instruments rather than crutches. Armed with a hybrid acoustic-electronic drum kit and multiple guitars, basses, and keyboards brimming with effects and patches, Socadia shies away from loops and sequences during performances. They instead completely re-imagine their layered studio tracks using only what their sixteen limbs can simultaneously play.
In 2005, Socadia self-released their eponymous debut album. Coming as a breath of fresh-air in the garage-rock/emo dominated LA scene, Socadia immediately began catching the attention of hungry music fans looking for something honest and unique. The video for "Sleeping While You Drive," the album's first single, won acclaim at the Nashville International Film Festival, RebelFest, and was the 2005 Divx MVwire Music Video contest winner.
After playing countless shows around SoCal, Socadia began writing and recording the COY EP in early 2007. The subsequent music video for "Always Near" which went on to win the SXSW Click video competition and was a finalist at HDFest and ViMus in Portugal. COY was digitally released in 2008, and in April of 2009, the band will release a second music video from COY, for the song "Land of Peasants."
Socadia is currently finishing a new EP, to be released in Summer of 2009, and will be unleashing a plethora of new audio and visual pieces throughout the year.
