Gordie Laurencell

About Me

Gordie has a polished, soulful sound developed through years of experience as a musician, songwriter, manager and all-around music industry creative. He started playing piano at an early age. He studied piano and composition at Columbia College (Chicago), Roosevelt University (Chicago) and the Berklee School of Music (Boston). Creative musical concepts have always played a part in Gordie’s development as a musician. He created, produced, managed and wrote songs for Poise-N-Charm, an all-girl rock band. Gordie toured the local Chicago land festival circuit with the Blooze Brothers Rhythm and Blues Review. He also spent a year in Los Angeles and had a recurring walk-on role as “The Jogger” in Aaron Spelling’s Beverly Hills Dog Park. Gordie’s recording highlights include a 4-song EP with producer Jeff Murphy/Black Vinyl Records (Shoes, Nerk Twins, Material Issue, Matthew Sweet, and Nicholas Tremulus) featuring drummer John Richardson (Badfinger, Tommy Keene, Shoes, and Ralph Covert). Gordie was a featured artist on the 1997 D.I.Y. compilation CD. As a songwriter, Gordie maintains a catalogue of over 200 unpublished songs in a variety of musical genres including rock, pop and country. He wrote the winning song (“The Chicago Bulls Are Here to Stay”) for the Search for a Chicago Bulls Theme Song Contest in 1994. His song was chosen by the Chicago Bulls, along with the contest sponsors (including radio station AM1000—WMVP), because it promoted a classic brand of fan appeal (in the tradition of songs such as “Bear Down Chicago Bears” and “Here Come The Blackhawks”).Other songwriting credits include co-writing “The Bulls Song” along with WCKG radio personality/songwriter/producer Steve Dahl and producer/songwriter Joe Thomas (River North Records, Peter Cetera, Beach Boys, and Brian Wilson). From 2005 through 2006, Gordie played piano/keyboards for April’s Reign (formerly Anxiety Society), one of Chicago land’s most popular pop/rock cover bands. In 2006 he formed the popular piano/vocal duo Reality Circus.Gordie currently plays piano/organ in The Nicole Jamrose Band. Nicole was a top finalist on Country Music Television’s Nashville Star.He also plays piano and sings with 88 Key Salute. The world's only tribute to Piano Rock.
