About Me

THE ELEVATOR PITCH-Beginning life as a psychedelic, multi-media group, IT [it, not i.t] are a band with a colossal sound that shakes the bones and a barrage of images that feed the mind.Based out of London England and Sault Ste. Marie Canada, IT are part of a new movement in Progressive Rock that also includes bands such as Porcupine Tree and perhaps even Nine Inch Nails. Their sound fuses the classic melodies of prog’s past with the fire and intensity usually only found in a punk or metal band.Politics, religion, war and sexuality are all put under the band’s lens for examination. Their lyrics are emotional, intelligent and occasionally darkly humerous. In the end, the IT experience will remain in your memory long after the last note has faded.CURRENT AFFAIRS 2004 - PRESENT -In 2004 IT began to redefine itself. Nick Jackson began writing material that would become the foundation of the band’s fourth album, Departure. And he began to experiment. Guitarist Andy Rowberry who joined the band at the end of the Over and Out tour brought a metal player’s power and strength to the band. Drummer Alex Inglis introduced double kick drumming and Canadian multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Craig West would become Spock to Nick Jackson’s Kirk. Many guests would also join the recording coming from genres ranging from metal to bluegrass.Although rooted in progressive music, Departure is not afraid to cross genres when an idea demands it. For example, the track Burn fuses country and metal together in an unlikely yet unforgettable combination. Stand Back is a melodic pop song, while the new single Killing Me, with it's double-kick attack is hard rock all the way.IT are now beginning the process of promoting Departure with the release of the single Killing Me, and planning a tour schedule that will run for years across North America and Europe. Also in the works is an EP called Trauma and the band’s first full-length DVD, filmed during the summer of 2007, capturing the band’s energetic live sound and multi-media show.THE FIRST 10 YEARS 1994 to 2004-IT began full time in 1994 when Nick Jackson recorded and self-produced the band’s first full-length album The Stranger Inside the Self. This is also when the band first began using multimedia during live shows with the inclusion of short films playing behind the group on stage. IT’s next album Two Worlds was released in early January 1995 and that year also saw IT appearing on the James Whale TV Show, a television program highlighting new bands. Between 1996 and 1998, Nick built Spacehouse Studios, a purpose built recording studio where the band has made every album since.January 2000 saw IT embrace with 21st century with their wesbite, www.spacehouse.tv enabling them to communicate with fans worldwide and to showcase their material. The band’s third album Over & Out was released on June 21st 2002 and was created as a concept with a story line. IT performed the album live in its entirety accompanied by projected visual montages created by Nick Jackson using the technique of ‘Video Sampling’. Live actors also played out one of the album’s main themes, the ‘live talk show’, in the single, Good Morning America. The band toured Great Britain and Canada in support of Over and Out building fans on both sides of the Atlantic. This ended the first chapter of IT’s story as long time collaborator James Johnson exited the band due to marriage, opening the door for guitarist Andy Rowberry, drummer Alex Inglis, keyboard player Rob Archibald and multi-instrumentalist Craig West to help define the band’s future.
