About Me

The game has changed drastically over the past couple of years, but the industry today seems to have lost it's meaning completely for what hip-hop stands for. "I don't believe hip-hop is dead. It still lives in some of us". Beginning at age 18, Mactastic sought out for a career in the rap industry when his dreams of being a professional basketball player came to a hault. He went on to college to major in Computer Science but soon realized his real major would be the music business."I can remember sitting there in History class thinking up punchlines instead of what year the Declaration Of Independence was signed" (laughs). He then began writing songs to hopefully one day put together his own masterpeice. In the very beginning he started out with the name D-Mac. He then changed it to Young Mac, but then decided on Mactastic. "I'm getting tired of changing my name. I feel like P. Diddy (laughs)".Back when Mac very first started listening to rap music, he really didn't like it because he never really understood it. "I was always a bigger R&B, Pop fan over Rap. I liked Dru Hill, Usher, Boys II Men, Michael Jackson (of course), Immature (who later became IMX), Next, Mary J. Blige, R. Kelly, Jagged Edge, Ginuwine, & Tyrese to name a few. But I remember this one day in particular when my mom bought me a tape which was the new Kriss Kross album at that time titled Young, Rich, & Dangerous. I played it over and over again and never got tired of it. I loved that song Tonights The Night. That was my Jam". That's where Mac fell in love rap music. His favorite group of all time was Outkast which consisted of Andre 3000 & Big Boi. He then started listening to the No Limit crew led by Master P. Cash Money led by the Hot Boys (Lil' Wayne, B.G., Juvenile, & Turk). "I used to jam all the southern based music hard until about 2005. That's when I began listening to music outside of the south". Heavily influenced by the east coast sound, Mac figured he'd take another route rather than be just your average southern artists."I like to talk about subjects on life rather than tell you how big my rims are". Mactastic & Baby Bling (Mactastic's first cousin) had partnered together in 2005 forming the group "Young Squadron". The "Young Squadron" released their first ever mixtape "Hood Hoppin" under Freaklink Music/Byrd Records/Superstarks Ent. After little success locally and much hype building around them, they decided to come back even stronger the next year with the support from DJ Aaries of the Hood Hard Hitmakers for the project "When Worlds Collide".Come 2007, the group decided to part ways to focus on solo projects after "Project 3" (their third project) was never completed. Mactastic is now set to embark upon "greatness" by releasing a total of five completely different projects within the next few years. This ought to be exciting. Stick around to see how he does.
