DISGORGE (AUSTRALIA) began in Hobart, Tasmania in 1990.
They started out doing covers of mostly Extreme Noise Terror, Napalm Death, Unseen Terror (plus others), as well as original songs. They played gigs locally in Hobart, and recorded a 6 track demo tape "Give the Sick More Say".
Founding members were Aaron Chesterton (high pitched vocals), Nick Hopwood (deep vocals), Erik Simonsen (guitar), Andrew Mckenzie (Bass) and Chris Valentine (drums). David Bird took over Bass guitar after a short while.
Disgorge moved to the mainland of Australia in 1994, and played gigs at various Melbourne venues.
There were lineup changes. Andrew McKenzie was back playing Bass (Bird stayed in Tassie). Nick also remained in Hobart, so Eugene Spurt took over the low vocal sound when the band moved to Melbourne.
EGROGSID continued. This is just the first chapter in the band's history. I can't tell you much about the band after this because I wasn't in close contact with the guys, plus my memory is not that good :^)
Andrew McKenzie (bass) quit at some point and went on to form "The Legends of Motorsport", playing Keys and singing.
Chris Valentine - (drums - I'm responsible for this space) left the band shortly after the shift to Melbourne. He later played drums with Vomitorial Corpulence and NowyourefuckeD.
Sadly, Erik Simonsen (guitarist) died in 2006. He was living in Japan at the time.
Erik was the best and most influential grindcore artist I ever had the pleasure of knowing. His passing inspired me to put up this music from the 1990's. I hope you enjoy it.
Erik wrote good riffs, and was one of the 'fastest AND hardest' drummers I have ever seen. Erik to me WAS GRINDCORE. He started his musical career as a guitarist, but boldly switched to drums in another Melbourne band called WARSORE. He always put in 110% at his music.
WARSORE was a brilliant Grindcore band and their music is essential for any grindcore freaks. Track them down here on myspace (one of our friends).
Tons of photos of the king of grind have been put up on his brother's myspace page, here: www.myspace.com/katomukwasha
I hate this adding friends and crap. I don't log in much anyway.
Enjoy the tunes and videos.
