About Me

DiLo was born Hillel Running Bear-Horowitz in Eagle’s Claw, Wisconsin. His father was a Jewish investment banker from Manahattan and his mother was a squaw on the Kickapoo reservation in the Kettle Moraine in southern Wisconsin in 1973. His father, Schlomo Horowitz, saw a opportunity to exploit the native American Indian by selling the idea of buying back the island of Manhattan for gold coin and a share in the tribe’s casino gaming rights. Schlomo was aroused by the natural beauty (and folktales of her “talents”) of Hillel’s mother, Throws Leg Like a Javelin, and her snazzy Kate Spade papoose. To steal a line from Fiddler on the Roof, “matchmaker, matchmaker make me a match!” And boy, did he ever…After Hillel’s father acquired the casino rights and the remaining gold coin in the Kickapoo village, he absconded with the loot. When the Kickapoo chief, Stands for a Piss, found out about the hi-jinx, Hillel was seen as the last bit of cancer brought into the tribe by Schlomo. To the ignorance of his mother (who was living up to her moniker at the time), Hillel was exiled from the Kickapoo tribe and sent away with a mere bearskin loin cloth, some trinkets and two cornmeal muffins. One might think this would be a sad day in Hillel’s early life, but Hillel had secretly always thought that the rural trappings of reservation life weren’t for him... and that Hillel was a fucking stupid name.
