Experimental MindState (EMS)
Experimental MindState (aka EMS) stems from the Boston area. M-Dot is from Lynn, MA by way of Revere, MA & Mayhem from Lawrence, MA by way of Roxbury, MA. Revalation originally hails from the Bronx, NY but is now residing in New Bedford, MA where he has lived since he was 7 years old. Kore, the groups producer and sometimes vocalist, is from Billerica, MA.
Experimental MindState formed in the early months of 2004. M-Dot & Revalation met at their college, MCLA, and had been collaborating previously as solo artists when they met Mayhem, another on-campus rapper. They did their first song together and the rest was history. The group formed a solid bond and began their journey to change peoples mindset about hip-hop and rap music. Using mainstream & underground beats and mixing them with both mainstream ideas and political references of their struggle, EMS created a new brand of music that bridged the gap between underground and mainstream. People could bob their heads to the music or just listen to the insightful lyrics. Since forming, EMS has released two albums and three mixtapes independently using their own money and wit to get their music out to the people that love their sound. They have also performed at open mic nights, colleges, clubs, bars, and car shows around Massachusetts, Maine, and even Montreal, CAN at the Hard Rock Cafe. In 2006 they added producer/rapper Kore to the mix making them a viable threat out of MA. With his catchy and influential sound Kore's beats fit perfectly with the EMS mission. While they continue to grow as artists, EMS will undoubtedly make their mark as they keep striving to be Hip-Hop's next elite group.
