Create a Myspace LED Scroller....studio, touring, theatre all performing, in amazing company currently and past.history: sung along to beatles at a very young age, learned all john's, paul's and george's harmonies. kept singing pop, soul and r&b on the radio, finally learned guitar from pam hickey at age 14 (at olympic high school in santa monica) on a guitar my uncle won on the dance show "Boss City". A sweet hand me down... a Fender Newporter (fun to play, not a great sound but I love her).dancing and seeing live bands at an early age; kingfish, pegasus, venice party band, seagull, van halen, hammerhead, the whizz kidds, grand avenue, strutter, smile and many more (at gazzari's, filthy mcmastys, the starwood, the odyssey, the rainbow on and off the sunset strip), the blue lagoon saloon, oh so many more... this all brought me my musical training. when at age 17 lori and i found the taurus tavern in venice. a band called sam (sam taylor) hosting a jam session. lori and i, yep, sam said "girls... get up there!" gathering lori's sister nancy wilhelm, we began rehersing in the garage (the good ol' days), we had a band.we began. time went on, seeing bands, getting inspired, rehersing, dancing and moving though the music scene in la... we needed a drummer. so many auditions, and playing with guys was okay, but non of them stuck, none of them were quite right... but what about an all girl band? that would be badass! jim volpe of (can't remember the band name, yikes) brought over his drum student dawn richardson (of 4 non blondes fame, and so many more... currently, Dolorata) who was then 13 and just getting started, we had fun but needed a professional, a seasoned professional.one day my mom say's, "you know, sandy west, the drummer from that band the runaways is always at the pink elephant bar on main street, i think she works there". so, i sent a note and we got a call from sandy. she came to our halloween party at the blue moon studios in playa del rey to check us out with her friends carole collini and bc (in costume, as construction workers) that was so amazing to me, how exciting to have the awesome sandy west come to see us. she really liked our band, lore, nancy and i and she wanted in. we rehersed, recorded then she was off to london, she would pitch our demo to cherry red records. sandy is up in drum heaven now, the star that she is shining brightly on us all. what a good heart and a passion for music, she really showed us how to be passionate and love music in a big way."beau" was our name, then we were "strapps", we played a gazzarri's show, then we created a new sound as "the hondas", playing, madame wong's, club lingerie, the plant, hong kong cafe, the music machine, club 88, and so many more. lori, nancy and i split the hondas to then form september, what we considered our "original" music project.then i relocated to austin, texas and began a solo acoustic project that found me playing all the clubs in austin and playing many festivals throughout the texas area, i went to paris on vacation and decided to leave austin, move back to la but go to paris for 3 months, gigging and busking on the metro, a few club gigs, playing 4 sets a night and by day on the metro, what a life, i was loving it!!!along with this live and independent recording career i spend a lot of time singing and playing with various other people's projects locally and touring, the keen one's, george michael jackson (also recorded an album singing and playing percussion), breta, chris fradkin and his american youth, hoyt axton and bonnie bramlett at the love run, stick people, storyville, st. cecilia, lynn keller...to be continued...
