Mixing
since 1983.
It
was the my father that made me wanna be a DJ, but it was the DJ at my 8th grade
graduation that closed the deal. This dude was bangin track after track and
had all the girls straight dreamy eyed. After seeing that it was a wrap, I knew
from that point I wanted to be a DJ.
I used to practice on my old man's equipment. Until one day he took me to the store to get my own. I remember it well..... A Realistic Mixer(Radio Shack) and 2 Technics B100's (Belt Drive). They had a little roller to control the pitch. I used to soak my belts in warm water to give them that direct drive feel.
I can also remember asking my father to take me the Walgreen's to buy 3 Tone Master cassettes for .99 cents. I used to stay up all night to tape the HOT MIX 5 on WBMX. Those cassettes were some of the cheapest tapes you could buy, and after 10 plays they popped. Man that used to piss me off.

2 levels of music (1st level....The Gym, 2nd level.... The Lunchroom)
I spent most of my time on the 1st level. The 2nd level were those brave hearted
people who were a little more adventuress with music and lifestyle. I would
find myself standing by the speakers checking out the way people danced. And
I soon realized that chicks would always dig a guy who could dance. Let just
say this..... I learned some moves quick. After all it was a DANCE PARTY.
