I am here for Friends

About Me

flowers layout powered by HOT FreeLayouts.com / MyHotCommentsI'm a wife, mother of three, daughter, sister, friend, medical technologist, teacher, and womens' ministry leader. I'm currently teaching biology and biochemistry at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX. I live in the country but only about an hour from the big city and 10 minutes from a small town. I've lived in many different towns and states but have been here in the same place now for 25 years. We have been married for 27 years on January 9, 2009 and we have 3 children (2 boys and a girl). My boys are 25 and 22 and my daughter is 18. All three of them are single and in college ranging from freshman to grad student. Our pets are 2 dogs - one miniature daschund named Brutus and a chocolate lab named Leonard, 3 kittens being raised by my daughter after their mother was killed when they were about 2 weeks (they are doing great now)and a quarterhorse named Molly. I'm unique, intelligent, loving, tender-hearted, creative, emotional, independent, competitive, and sometimes just a little stubborn.
I'm a Christian saved by the grace of God through faith by the blood of Jesus Christ. I believe in the power of prayer and in miracles and I believe He is active in our lives daily even in the small details.
I'm open and will give you an honest answer if you ask. I'm shy sometimes especially around new people. I love my friends and am loyal to them and expect the same in return. I have lots of acquaintances but only a few close friends. But those few are friends forever because they love me and accept me just as I am. I'm a good listener and can keep a confidence. I love to do little things to make my friends smile or to help them out. I love to spend time with my friends - it doesn't matter what we do. I do enjoy time to myself too.
I'll write or email my friends regularly but will rarely call them on the phone, but I like to talk on the phone if they call me. I love for them to call me or write me.
My favorite food is Italian and my favorite snack is white powdered donuts and milk.
In my spare time I love to read and if I'm in the right mood I write poems, letters, and articles. I've had a few published but mostly they're just for me or occasionally for or about my friends.
Little Known and Unusual Facts About Me:
I have a driver's licence for an M60 tank, an armored personnel carrier, and a 5-ton transport truck. I was in the Air Force for 3 years as a medical laboratory officer, Army National Guard for 7 years in personnel and finance, and the Army Reserve for 5 years as a combat medic instructor. My unit was activated for Desert Storm but I was 8months pregnant and unable to go. My husband retired after 26 years in the Army National Guard.
I was in Jerusalem the night of the signing of the Camp David Peace Accord and danced in the streets with the locals.
That same year I was in Turkey when the embassy next door to our apartment was bombed.
I won the school and area spelling bees in the 6th grade and went on to compete in the regional bee.
I spent the night on a kibbutz in northern Israel near the border of Lebanon.
While participating in my college PE course in horseback riding, my horse went under a tree branch which caught on my shirt and ripped it off of me. Then the horse decided to go for a swim in the nearest stock pond.
When I was 6 months old I won the "fattest baby" contest at the Centre County Fair in Pennsylvania!
