** THU 16/07: Anthony Hughes + Simon Kelly + The Terms + Tara Simmons

** FRI 17/07: Ray Mann Three + Alisa Fedele
The Ray Mann Three are Australia’s troubadours of minimal Soul music. Three well-dressed cats: sitting, jamming, sketching with minimal strokes; inhabiting a world of their own but inviting you to visit – and maybe stay awhile…
Since the band’s sold-out debut album launch and subsequent 30-date national tour in Spring 2008, The Ray Mann Three’s dynamic live show has earned the band spots supporting international acts such as Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Jamie Lidell and Roy Ayers, and local acts ranging from Ash Grunwald and The Bamboos to Kate Miller-Heidke and Holly Throsby.
Featuring past and present members of Kid Confucius, The Ray Mann Three is celebrating the release of its debut album, “The Ray Mann Threeâ€: recorded in three days, produced by Tony Buchen, the album blends soul, jazz and hip-hop with timeless songwriting that calls to mind D’Angelo, Al Green, The Beatles and The Roots, and perfectly captures the band’s warm, intimate sound.
“Urban, neo-soul, a dash of funk, lots of spunk with a truly fresh spirit… The Ray Mann Three have the ability to propel you into a higher sphere allowing your soul and intellect to waltz into the lofty clouds of the unique.†– Drum Media

** SUN 19/07: The Basics + The Boat People + Simon Kelly
2009 already promises to be a huge year for the band. To kick things off, their new single With This Ship released on Tuesday 24 February and is the first song from their ominously titled album …. (click photo for more info) Keep Your Friends Close
In April, The Basics will play some very special shows taking audiences on intimate and acoustic journeys featuring never before seen photos, videos and many unseen rarities exclusive to the tour. Tickets will be limited, so don’t miss out on The Basics showcasing their exclusive offerings from Keep Your Friends Close!
With This Ship heralds a significant new direction for The Basics. While retaining the band’s trademark three-part harmonies, they are forging a bold path towards an altogether unexplored musical landscape. With This Ship is something of a musical map, charting the often unpredictable and tumultuous ocean of relationships. It illustrates the hope-filled struggle of fighting against the tide of personal history, but also the hopelessness sometimes encountered when trying to mend rifts in relationships ravaged by hurt and time.
But fear not. The Basics’ lush vocal harmonies will lift you over the swirling symphony of stormy guitars and lay you softly on the shore.
