About Me

--- The West Coast has played a pivotal and integral role in the growth and development of Hip-Hop music and culture that can not be compromised questioned or overshadowed. The West Coast has undoubtedly been a pillar of strength and a significant player in the globalization and brand recognition of Hip-Hop music and culture fusing its own urban experience mixed with what has been widely popularized as Gangster and Hyphy Music. It has throughout the years consistently produced some of the Hip-Hops most revered and prominent producers, artist, not to mention movers and shakers in the music industry. Here to dispel the myth that a new artist couldn’t emerge from the West Coast and breath new life into its music scene and bring back prominence to a region that has given birth to music icons and Hip-Hop living legends, is Californias own Lace Dosia.Lace Dosia was born in the Midwest. At the tender age of three, his mother thought it would be in the best interest of their family to relocate to California, due to some unforeseen circumstances. Upon arriving in California the transition didn’t go as smoothly as Laces mother had wished, so the family moved from East Palo Alto California to the Eastside of San Jose, where they resided and called it home. Unfortunately like most kids coming from an urban environment, Lace grew up without his biological father, but it was the love and guidance of his stepfather, that would help navigate Lace through some tough times along his journey in life. Also it would be his stepfather that would prove to be instrumental in introducing the young Lace to what would grow to be his passion, which is music. As far back as Lace could remember, he has always been around music, largely due to the influence of his stepfather, who in his own right had been an accomplished musician and producer of a video show called Video Panorama, which aired around the same time Video Soul on BET had taken off.It wasn’t until his freshman year in high school that Lace began to take music a lot more seriously. He and his friends would find themselves engaging in a great Hip-Hop past time, freestyle ciphers. Shortly after, his freestyles evolved into great songs, depicting vivid pictures of hood life and all the elements that lead to self destruction in many of Americas urban communities. Like most young African American youth, Lace thought that enlisting in the Army, would be the perfect solution and escape from a very turmoil driven life. So in the summer of 1998, Lace got suited and booted and became a soldier for Uncle Sam. It was during his time in the Army, that Lace discovered that being a soldier for Uncle Sam wasn’t the best option for him and that his passion for music was calling him, so he had to answer the call. Lace was later discharged and went back to the same streets he was trying to escape and avoid. He would later go OT finding refuge in the Lone Star State of Texas, where he began pursuing music more tenaciously, doing shows from West Texas to North Carolina, with a group he was apart of called Hard Knocks. As time passed he realized that the group wasn’t a good fit for him and he started to miss home. Upon the encouragement of his mother and family, which had moved from the Bay area to Los Angeles, Lace headed back home to Cali. It was that decision to move back home that would jump start a lot of positive things in motion for the young aspiring rapper. He found himself working in a barbershop owned by the Outlaws, 2 Pac’s infamous group, where he soaked up the game and learned this business of music. As Lace Dosias days of working at that barbershop came to end, it was just the genesis of an intense hustle to rep his group, Hard Head Hustlaz, and himself in the streets of California, from L.A. to the Bay. He began recording many songs, from backyard studios in the hard hoods of Watts, all the way to Northern California. He also struck a chord with the streets, bringing back the independent hustle of selling his mixtapes out of the trunk of his car. His reputation in the hood as an artist and performer, has afforded him the opportunity to open up shows for the likes of some of Hip-Hops heavyweights such as, Mike Jones, Paul Wall, Chamillionaire, not to mention up and coming Pop diva Brook Hogan. He has performed in prestigious venues such as BB Kings at Universal Studios, Dragonfly, Rick Hard, Club Aura and many other arenas. In his pursuit for stardom and his rightful place on the World stage, he hasn’t let anything slow him down, not even after doing a short bid in the Los Angeles Twin Towers and extradited back to Texas. In this day and time you can find Lace going hard with his music, under the guidance of Ilion, the infamous Hood Broker and A&R to the streets, who has consulted and brokered business opportunities for likes of Spider Loc to platinum producer Meech Wells, and other aspiring artist. Lace has also been polishing up his skills as an artist over his brother DdotDolla's production and in the camp of Team Mashn Ent., under the leadership of platinum producer Keith Clizark, who was responsible for a lot of the Westcoast sound from the LBC and some of Snoops hits in the late 90s, which was also brought about by Ilion the Hood Broker. If you want to see how Laces grind is paying off , check out TEAMMASHN.com and you can catch an exclusive interview with him in Banging, an emerging new industry magazine out of the West Coast. When one listens to Lace Dosia, you cannot help but to gravitate to his presence and his diverse delivery as an artist, not to mention his innate ability to provide a great performance on stage and song after song. He has a style, he can call his own, mixed with traces of Hyphy and that classic West Coast rap in his DNA. Lace has a natural star swag, that reminds one of a young Snoop. His upswing and talent is apparent and cannot be denied. Its only a matter of time before the world knows the name of the West Coast best kept secret, Lace Dosia. - - -
