Sounds Like: Band founded in Set. 1994 by Goncalo Antunes de Oliveira (vocals and electric guitar) and Bruno Santos (electric guitar). These were times when the grunge movement deeply affected popular music, mainly because of the success Nirvana achieved and the following suicide of Kurt Cobain. Many bands emerged in this context, and Subic Bay was no exception. In 1996, having few songs and some rehearsals, the band invited Pedro Rodrigues and Iuri Santos (childhood friends) to the drums and bass guitar. These two new elements brought with them the influence of bands like Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins and Metallica, which would enhance the band's initial style primarily generated through Nirvana, Pink Floyd, Ramones, Green Day and Aerosmith. Their first show was on the 29th May 1998 in the Recreation Centre of Ameixoeira with the band Funkoffandfly. With a few gigs done, in July 2000, B. Santos decided to leave the band. The band then recorded a demo tape called Let the Blind Man Rest in the Orbitrónica Studios. In February of 2001, more than 20 songs were registered in the Portuguese Society of Authors and there was some investment done in musical instruments. After a period of instability caused by the search of a new guitar player, in August 2001 Pedro Romba completed the lot again, bringing with him additional influences and a new motivation. Between 2002 and 2005, the band decided to explore new sounds by implementing a groove box and Sara Sezifredo (Bar vocals) to the chorus. Reduced to a quartet again, a new demo was recorded, this time with Graphonola Records, containing 7 songs, namely Away In You, Lost Control, Dying Old, Permanent Vacations and Download Jam.In Jul. 2007, the band added Catarina de Castro, recovering the the feminin backing vocals and also new instruments to its songsI edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
