Chartel is a classically-trained musician who has been involved in various choruses and ensembles for the greatest portion of her life. She was trained at the Suitland High School Center for Visual and Performing Arts, with vocal instruction from the acclaimed soprano, Lisa Eden. She recently received a Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Voice Performance, studying with the fabulous mezzo-soprano, Dr. Lorie Gratis.
Chartel has diverse musical experience. In addition to classical music genres, she is known to sing and sometimes write music in other styles, including gospel. She began singing in the Christian church and continues to sing there. She also appears as a background singer, in various talent showcases, and has performed with and conducted a variety of gospel ensembles throughout the years. Among other accomplishments and awards, Chartel performed a leading role in Temple University's production of Ragtime: The Musical, being featured as Sarah. She was also a recent cast member in Temple Opera Theater's productions of L'enfant et les Sortileges, Le Rossignol, La Boheme, and Le Nozze di Figaro.
Recent appearances have been in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area, Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia Metropolitan areas and New York City amongst other locations.
