Sonja Porter HopkinsSonja Hopkins is a native of Mobile, Al. The strong, fervent soprano has a vocal ability that creates an atmosphere of praise and worship from the first note to the last. Her versatile style acknowledges the influence of traditional and contemporary gospel music.Sonja has performed back-up for major artists like Debra Barnes and has opened up for Bishop Neal Roberson. She has also participated in several events throughout the country. Sonja recently recorded her first Southern Gospel CD, “New Joy”. Her recent performances include Columbia State University- Gospel Fan fest, Message in the Music, Cincinnati, OH. And many more appearances in Nashville, TN.In 2007, Sonja received major press and radio coverage for her Southern Gospel compliation CD "New Joy!" The Universal Singers Association for Gospel Music nominated Sonja for Female Soloist of the Year and most recently nominated in 2008 for Nashville's Blanche Foster Award attributing her dedication to exalting the name of Jesus through Praise and Worship!The greatly anticipated solo project featuring Sonja is scheduled for 2008 Summer release! The project will feature songs written by Sonja and produced by the world-renowned Grammy nominated genius ROGER RYAN!!!Sonja is also a minister of the Word of God! Sonja is currently ministering at the local Women's prisons in Nashville Tn. She is a powerful teacher and evangelist empowering God's women!She is currently the Minister of Music at Anointed Life Fellowship Church in East Nashville, TN under the leadership of Pastor Gregory and Gloria Hopkins.
