Where's my Angel started in early 2000 with Jon Diaz and Jay Cavanaugh, attending open mic's in N.Y.C. reading poetry to acoustic guitar. Yeah, it was that simple. But Jay and Jon have a much deeper history together. It dates back to the mid 1980's in West Virginia, the most unlikely place in the USA for two native New Yorkers to ever meet. The catalyst was none other than Robert Fripp of King Crimson who was busy forming the League of Crafty Guitarists. At the time there was a weekend workshop, called "Music for non Musicians" it was during that work shop that Jon and Jay met. A few Month's later Jon joined Jay's band Gray Zone which was the start of a collaboration that's lasted 20 plus years. Both Jon and Jay have taken many diverse creative paths alone and together. Jay spent a good deal of the 1990's as an actor/ writer/ director putting aside music almost entirely. But music being Jay's first love, he could no longer resist his roots as a singing bassist and lyric writer. Jon as been involved in numerous musical collaborations with many artists as well as producing music for Dance for various N.Y. choreographers. Jon and Jay can be heard playing on Vera Beren's CD (www.myspace.com/veraberen) On Where's my Angel's upcoming release, the Duo find themselves taking on a world music vibe with special guest Mathias Kunzli on percussion. Look for Where's my Angel to appear both as an acoustic and electric act in the near future. One thing's for sure, you wont find W.M.A. predictable. Their sound is as fluid and changable as the New York City sky line. Look for the "Acoustic" EP out now and available at Digstation.
