Charles Goodwin and the Richard Cranium Band

About Me

Masthead Banner Made with MyBannerMaker.com! Click here to make your own!Charles Goodwin says, "I'll take a little of this, and a little of that" while piling an assortment of Chinese food onto his plate. I nod my head and comment on the brilliance of buffet style eating, but he's not talking about sesame chicken or pepper steak. He's dictating his approach to songwriting. "If it moves me, I use it."
Charles is a singer/songwriter with an original style and a blend of diverse musical genres. He got his start in New Orleans, Louisiana as a guitarist in several local bands. In 1997 he relocated to Fayetteville, North Carolina with the US Army. During his stay in North Carolina, he became a member of the Cape Fear Songwriters Guild, performing live shows with an elite group of musicians. In the summer of 2001 Charles moved to Tampa, Florida to pursue his own goals as a solo artist. He recorded and distributed several songs while playing the small local-crowd venues he enjoys so much.
Yet in 2005, another move was in store. Seeing a deficiency in decent music in the middle east, he decided to move overseas to the country of Qatar. The conservative arabic culture did not curb his enthusiasm for musical fulfilliment. He put together an acoustic/electric alternative band with a name that suits his quippy style: the Richard Cranium Band. They often play at a few expatriate member clubs, several parties, and a regular pro-bono gig with the USO for the American military base.
Charles Goodwin's musical influences are widely varied: Edwin McCain, Matchbox 20, Stone Temple Pilots, Pearl Jam, Caroline Spine, and (of course) Jimi Hendrix. He strives to inspire the audience and stir their emotions with the passion of his performances.

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: Charles Goodwin is currently the frontman for the Richard Cranium Band in Doha, Qatar. The other members are:

BILLY MCLEOD - Drummer Extraordinaire and founding member. He may also be described as "the tall one."

MICHAEL WRIGHT - Bassist Loco and akin to a Johnny Rotten on speed.

ALAN BURN - Lead Guitarist and the quiet British gent who raises the bar of talent and makes us all feel like lazy arse-holes.

------

Charles would like to give special thanks to the following people for their contribution on the "Cloud 13" recording:

TOM SPELLMAN for writing and recording the hypnotic electric guitar parts. Additional thanks for his patience with my obsessive compulsiveness during the recording process.

ANDREW BREY for writing and recording the bass guitar parts. His contributions rounded out the song quite nicely and makes it sound (at least to me) like a hollywood hit.

ZINA CANNON for her vocal harmonies and the tremendous support she continues to provide even years later. Additional thanks for being a sounding board, and advisor throughout the writing and recording process.

COREY FAIRCLOTH for his excellent contributions as an assistant sound engineer during the mixdown. I can still picture him with the earphones on nodding his head to what he liked, and the face of disgust when hearing the sounds he didn't.
