Road Captain

About Me

“Where the Action Was” I wrote about all the years I worked with Rock and Roll bands in the 60’s and 70’s. I was on the road for eighteen years. They used to call me HOSS. I started in Seattle with a group called the Viceroys in 1963. Then a group called the Wailers. I joined Paul Revere and the Raiders in late 1965 when they had just signed with Columbia Records and Dick Clark Productions for a TV show called Where the Action Is. In 1967 I worked for the Blues Magoos. We did a major tour with the Herman Hermits, The Who, and The Blues Magoos. The tour manager put me in charge of all three road crews. In late 1967 I went to work with a group called the Robbs who I met on a Dick Clark Caravan of Stars Tour when I was with The Raiders. Back to New York in early 1968 I worked for The Nazz. Tod Rungrin came out of that group. In late 1969 I went back to work for Mark Lindsay and The Raiders. Then I worked for the Grass Roots in 1970. In 1971 I worked with Gary Pucket and The Union Gap. In 1972 I was the road manager and bodyguard for Cat Stevens. In 1973 I worked for Wolfman Jack as a tour manager. In the rest of the seventies I worked on and off with a few groups that never made it big. One of them was called The Butts Band. John Densmore and Robby Krieger from The Doors started this band. The manuscript tells stories about all the individuals and the bands as a whole. There are twenty-two chapters and many original pictures telling good things and bad things that happened to me while working on and off the road. One chapter is called The Mania. It is about the fans that came to the concerts. Another chapter is called Being There. It tells about close calls and hard work of traveling on the road by aircraft, car and bus. Another chapter is called Live Sound and Recording and How it Changed. I literally saw thousands and thousands of Rock and Roll bands in those days. There are many more chapters. No one else was in this position at this time. If you were a fan and in your early 20’s or teens in the 60’s or 70’s this will definitely give you some fond memories. It has me. I have sent my manuscript to some agents in New York and they were telling me that there was no market for this. They don’t seem to understand that 25 percent of the population of the United States is Baby boomers. That means you were there. I NEED YOUR HELP to prove these agents wrong by contacting me at my website [email protected] and tell me that you would like to see it come to publication. If I get enough e-mails I can go straight to the publishers and eliminate the agents. I would appreciate your help. Thank you very much and be sure to tell all your friends to also e-mail me. &nbs p; Sincerely, “HOSS"IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME
I decided to call the album IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME, because I got the term from bikers that I played the album for in Washington, Oregon and California.
That was the first comment they all made. ROAD CAPTAIN is doing something that no one else has ever done before. They play music for people that are in their forties, fifties and sixties. It's good old fashioned rock 'n roll that sounds like 1968 and 1969 music. How many times have you heard someone say, "No one plays the rock 'n roll we like anymore"?
Well, WE DO NOW!
ROAD CAPTAIN is a collection of unique musicians from the Seattle area. Individually, each one of them has been playing rock 'n roll for over thirty years in clubs, bars, and some concerts. Two of the members are grandparents. One of the members has been with groups that have been on record labels before, been on tour with the DICK CLARK CARAVAN OF STARS tours in the 1960's and has been in several groups from Seattle; a full time musician. He also has a tremendous history in the evolution of rock n roll.
This band finally decided to do something about playing music that your generation can relate to. The material is arranged and recorded in such a way that it relates to late 1960's rock 'n roll. Everyone that listens to the album can relate to different sounds of the music that reminds them of some other band back in the 1960's. We purposely designed it that way. So if you're in your fifties, you'll feel like you're in your twenties again when you listen to this album. We call this music Rude and Crude Rock 'n Roll.
ROAD CAPTAIN is for bikers. Every one that rides a bike can relate to the music and story that this band tells. Theres all kinds of different types of bikers, and weve designed the music in such a way that there is a little bit for everybody. There's hard rock, blues rock, pop rock, and commercial rock. There's even a pretty ballad for the ladies.
The big boys in the industry in Los Angeles are trying to tell me that there's no market here, and they just don't understand. We want all of the bikers to spread the news about ROAD CAPTAIN word-of-mouth. If you like the album, tell somebody about it. We know that there are 21 million on-the-road bikers in the U.S. alone, including all types of bikes. It's biker music written and performed by bikers, for bikers.
So if you've complained over the years that no one plays the kind of music you like anymore, and to help us prove that the big boys in L.A. are wrong, buy the ROAD CAPTAIN's album that is titled, "IT'S ABOUT DAMN TIME".
I hope you enjoy it!

Sounds Like: Music written, performed and recorded today but sounds like late 60's rock 'n roll for baby boomers that ride bikes. How many times have you heard someone say, "Nobody plays the rock 'n roll we like anymore"
