About Me

MySpace Crazy Text - Create your own today! My musical journey began at a very early age. I was 10 years old and in the fourth grade at John Welsh Elementary School at 4th and York streets in Philadelphia. I played the bells in the third grade and focused my attention to the Trumpet when I heard my music teacher Mr. Rosenberg play at one of our performances. I began to really focus on my musical journey and delved in writing and composing when I got into High School. We performed several of my arrangements and I started receiving calls from local bands asking me to join their groups and write arrangements for them. While still in High School, I sat with Herminio Cruz (Mino) whom I met while performing with Chelo Soto and Freddy Rodriguez and we came up with the Idea of creating a band of our own which eventually became La Opinion. I wrote most of the arrangements for the band and also became the musical director. Wanting to explore other venues, I accepted a proposal with the Salsoul Touring Orchestra. During this time in my life, I experienced the life of a road musician. After two years of the road, I was ready to settle back down and establish my career playing Salsa… Once I left Salsoul, I was asked to perform with Ralphy Hernandez and La Contraria. I directed the band for a few years and with the experience and knowledge that I gained I was asked to perform with Isidro Infante and his band Orchestra Carribean. I absorbed all of the advice that Isidro gave me and eventually landed some gigs in New York with Raul Marrero. Performing in New York exposed me to my Idols in Salsa and I had the honor to perform with people like: Ray Barretto, Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Adalberto Santiago, Raphael DeJesus, Jose Mangual Jr, & Tito Allen. I felt on top of the world being able to accomplish my dreams on both sides of the music spectrum. Locally, I have performed and recorded with - Acero Y Seda, La Sorpresa, Orchestra Fuego, Los Caballos De La Salsa, La Contraria, Edgardo Cintron, and La Opinion. Along with Alex Figueroa, we now front our own band (Los Profesores De La Salsa) and have backed artists such as - Michael Stuart, Andy Montanez, Yolanda Rivera, Paquito Guzman, Cano Estremera and Hector Tricoche. I love to play music and I dedicate all of my musical energy to Jesus Christ, all of his Saints and my Spiritual influences. I have been told that I have been an inspiration in many peoples lives, including my own family's and I hope that I can continue to do so with the help of my Creator.
