and let the the monster inside us breed.

Hrafn is an one-man project and one of many creative project that Juha Kananen stands behind.
Even if the project basicly is an one-man project so has it some injection of guest arragement sometimes. The project is a kind of personal alterego when it comes to music Juha creates. The project has been during many different figures under the years.
Hrafn is also Juha..s artistical alias wich is a Icelandic word for raven. The raven is a creature that stands for feelings, emotion, wisdom, announcement, death and the world of spirits etc. The main symbolic sense the raven has in this project is pain and all that comes with it. It..s also a symbol of death and tat we thinks exist beyond this.
According to most of the schamanism tribes had the raven the knowledge to habit to draw between the 3 levels of the world and each raven is a link between the living and the world of spirits.
The sound in the project varies after what Juha think is suitable during the creation. And the sound has no certain mould more than it should be experimental and have a large extent of electronic/industrial soundings.
Juha mainly works with the computer as a main tool in the project. But otherwise he uses miscellaneous of other things that makes noises. And also things that he find to rebuild to homemade instruments (the imagination has of course no boundaries).
Of course can everything thats sounds be used in some way according to Juha. Scrapyard stuff, tools, machines and other things that can bring noises. When he found a sound with correct nature he likes. So can it be manipulate with the help of the computer’s technology and he can charming it how he whanted it to sound.
The music style of the Hrafn project sounds mainly as a sort of experimentel industrial. It can to a big part be compared to musíc within the style as Industrial Orchestra, Dark Ambient, Neofolk, Filmscore etc etc there some part of my influence come from.
But Juha do not want to tie himself within a certain locked style. He also inspired by a lot of other styles such as ethno and different styles of sound experimental music. Even some Electronica, Minimalistic, Ambient, Industrial Rock, Classical, Ebm, Doom etc etc.
Juha call the music he create in Hrafn for “Apocalypticism” that aims most on the concept behind the music arragement. The music is a kind of multiple crossover style which is little of the gadget. The only guideline for the sound is that it should have an industrial like touch and an experimental gloomy feeling in the main structure.
Enjoy the new generation of Industrial Doom called Apocalyticism.
