Col 3:16This is the motto and ministry cornerstone that Michael Lofton has built his life and ministry upon. .A native Louisianian, Michael was born and raised in Deridder La., the son of a Baptist minister. Seeing his musical potential, his parents encouraged his musical development by enrolling him in piano lessons being taught by their church musician. This propelled his development forward and soon he began playing for area churches including the city's award winning community choir, the Deridder Community Choir .After high school he attended Mcneese State University. Where he majored in vocal music education and, he participated in the marching band and University Choir. This experienced of being exposed to both classical and jazz music forms served to not only provide fertile ground for further growth, but would also become the ear markings of his piano style. when a friend introduced him to the music of Thomas Whitfield ,it became the single most influential force on his music, much of which can still be heard in his playing and arranging today. Always a leader, he founded and organized the campus gospel choir, the United Voices of Mcneese, Who traveled and sang extensively through out the state. He also served as accompanist for area schools participating in the annual state wide choir festival held at the college. As a seasoned producer and music professional, Michael has worked with some of the industrys top producers and musicians. Some of the notables he has work with include: the late Olivia Branch Walker, Janet Dokes, Cathy Banks, Daryl Coley, Dave Hollister The General Mills Food Corporation, Mesquite Friendship Baptist Church, Willie Mae Sharpe ,Instruments Of Praise, of Dallas TX to name but a few. Never forgetting that love is an action word, He is also part of the MD Anderson Cancer Centers volunteer program, which presents music for patients and their families. He currently resides in Houston, TX where he is a member of the Family life Fellowship Church where he serves as Worship Leader and Youth Pastor. At the present he promoting first CD entitled "True" a unique blend of jazz, contemporary and traditional gospel.
