About Me

I find that I ramble and babble too much so I will attempt to keep this short and sweet..... I am a single Mom and live my life attempting, usually unsuccessfully, to put the fun back in dysfunctional. Being blessed with the gift of gab and more importantly sarcasm, I am often very misunderstood and therefore deemed a bitch from people who do not know me. But at least it's a title I can deal with and is only true sometimes.....But I do mean well and usually do not set off to offend and can certainly hold my own when taking what I dish out when it's all in good fun! That's fair I think, right? I do know that I am a nice, honest person who is trustworthy and loyal to the people I love. You be the judge! This is what I dislike about having to write a profile. I never know what to say so I babble....I am not perfect and neither are you....How's that for an honest portrayal? Truth be told, I think everyone is crazy some way or the other. Just some hide it better than others...I am serious about this... I am recently (finally) single and so happy to be free!I am looking forward to loving life again and have been enjoying my new found freedom very much!I am lucky to have a wonderful group of family & friends whom I love dearly! Anyway I will go on....I love to read, write when in the mood, talk to family & friends and learn new things! One day I will get off this Island too and hopefully will be living in Florida within the year.......But for now I will enjoy what I can here!

My Interests

My daughter, photography, computing, history, riding on the back of a Harley with someone I care about(wheeeeeee) and getting through the day with as little chaos as possible. I would love to travel more. For the past few years I have been a BIG BORE and haven't done much of anything so I am very into going out and having a few laughs with friends these days! I really enjoy road trips upstate, New England, or anywhere scenic off of Long Island. Well I can do Eastern Long Island...Love just watching the scenery and seeing and visiting small towns. I do not have any desire to go on a cruise or a tropical island. My dream is to see Vienna, London, and other parts of Europe. I guess I just want to see the real world, not some dressed up resort version of it! As you read on you will see that I love MUSIC. I believe that everyone should have their own personal soundtrack!

I'd like to meet:

Not really doing this to meet anyone. That was not my intention initially ... But if I do, I would like to meet people who are interesting and intelligent and of course honest! The chances of that happening online are slim to say the least, so I will settle for funny, perhaps a slight bit odd! I do enjoy making new friends, so drop me a line if you want! I have met some nice people and hope to meet many more! I am not into the online dating scene so you know! But stranger things have happened to me so I suppose you never know what will happen....Just not my thing though!

Music:

Now to the important stuff....I am very ADD or schitzo (pick a disorder) when it comes to music and switch desired genres frequently, but Classic Rock first and foremost! It's like my life blood and I always go back to it when I am sick of something different that I played to death!Led Zeppelin being at the top of course with Southern Rock a close second..I like folk music a lot. Tori Amos, Cowboy Junkies, Van Morrison,James Taylor, U2, Van Halen, The Beatles of course, 38 Special, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allmans, and the list goes on.... I am also an 80's retro listener at times. Hey it was my era and the memories are the best I had in my life. Yes, I get excited when I hear Come On Eileen and something equally cheesy and annoying. I am a geek to loo ra a. I identify mostly with 70's music and love that AM Gold stuff. Due to having to listen to only what my ex boyfriend liked, I now love Johnny Cash and do not flinch when I hear Blue Grass. I secretly enjoy it. Well maybe not so secretly anymore..... Favorite songs: Led Zeppelin Ramble On (I rock like I write and talk...), Stevie Ray Vaughan's version of Little Wing is my all time favorite though. Whatever mood I am in the song fits. Can't explain it. Liza with a Z was my first love and that album is still one of my favorites til this day (laugh all you want, I don't care) as is my second love Blondie and Parallel Lines!I love concerts when I go which is rarely. I love outdoor festivals in the summertime with live music. Music has always been a big part of my life one way or the other. But all in all there is nothing better than a good jukebox in a bar and listening to it with people who enjoy the music as much as you do! And that's all I have to say about that!

Movies:

Anything weird. Weird and foreign is a major plus! Although I can be traditional with favorites like Gone With the Wind. But then I will put on a Clockwork Orange followed by Dumb and Dumber and then Silence of The Lambs. I am a recent Star Wars fan seeing the originals for the first time in my life in 2005. The force is now with me and I am thankful because I can appreciate Spaceballs a lot more now! For some reason I always think of Groundhog Day when asked what my favorite movies are. I haven't seen it in awhile. I relate to the same day over and over thing. Be a stay at home Mom and you will see what I mean. If our tastes were judged by what movie channel we most frequently watch I would be an IFC chick. I am sub title friendly. I am not into Hollywood feel good for the family type blockbusters. I like real. Strange is real.....Most remakes of old classics make me ill, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory being on the top of my hate list.

Television:

Never without DVR!!!!!! I abhor commercials. I like cable news, Public Broadcasting and various educational channels. Re runs of course.... I love Law and Order and many of the HBO series, currently Rome.

Books:

Too many to list and not any recently. Any suggestions?

Heroes:

Nana - My Grandmother.
