Sounds Like:SLACKER-PSYCHOUT(2007 LEGENDARY TRIBUTE REMIXES) :
-After nearly a thousand pm's/myspace
messages/emails, we're proud to announce
an epoch for RUHNSONG RECORDINGS.
Not only is today the first Vinyl release for
our label, but we also release mixes of a
legendary artist who has helped shape
the sounds of dance music for over a decadeAppears on RUHNSONG RECORDINGS via
the grace of Shem "Slacker" McCauley's
Label Juke Box In The SkyThe Original Mixes of Psychout written by
Shem McCauley and Simon Rogers came
in 4 versions, the most notable of them
were the "Mind mix" and the "Alone mix",
The "Alone mix" aka "thing mix" can most
easily be remembered as being on Disc 2
of Nick Warren's Global Underground 008
Brazil DiscPsychout(Micah's 2007 Tribute to a legend remix)-Micah's remix takes it's parts from the
"Mind" mix of Psychout, and has been played
everywhere since February of this year by
dance luminary and pioneer John Digweed,
this mix stays very true to the original, it's
dark, chugging and does some major damage
on the dancefloorPsychout(Tungsten and Wulfram's Light Cyclin' remix)-Tungsten and Wulfram are a brand new
duo team consisting of long time friends and
dj's in Calgary: Micah and Chris LaPietraThis mix takes it's parts from the Alone mix,
twisting the original etheral feel into a crazy
mind trip that messes with clubbers heads,
it's dark, sinister and hard to let go once
youve heard it.Reviews/Accolades-Support from John Digween, Nick Warren,
Hernan Cattaneo and many many more-"IDJ MAG-JUNE TOP TUNE""...Micah's '2007 Tribute To A Legend'
Mix which takes the original concept and
successfully reinvents it into a stunning
piece of progressive house that will create
havoc on any given dance floor...This new
version is a fantastic example of how effective
dance music can be when all the right elements
fall into place....On the flipside we find the Tungsten & Wulfram
'Lightcyclin' Mix offers up another completely
different version of 'Psychout'..... There's such
a complexity to Tungsten & Wulfram’s remix
that it forces you to listen to it again and again
in case something was missed on previous
occasions. For me, this is very much a listening
type of track and works wonderfully on a purely
aural level and as such, the end result is quite
haunting.I'll be honest in saying that I was quite dubious
about 'Psychout' being remixed, as it's been one
of my favourite tracks since its release way back
in 1998. However, with this particular release,
both Micah and Tungsten & Wulfram have paid
a lot of respect to Slacker's original track. This is
great example of how a classic can be successfully
updated and transformed into two very exceptional
and striking ways while still keeping the main
elements of the original. Micah's mix is a richly
progressive interpretation that begs to be heard
on a large sound system while Tungsten & Wulfram's
is for me a much more personal endeavour with
its various complexities...
