About Me

Jay Mullinz is a Memphis recording artist who is taking rap to another level. He started rapping when he was about 12 years old and didn't stop there. Growing up in Memphis with a single mom made it hard for him to live a typical boys life. He had to play a man's role, being the oldest of four, and help his mom perform typical tasks. It's been hard for him along the way, but it only has made him so much stronger in many areas. He thanks God that he has been blessed with the many opportunities that he has, and he's not taking them for granted. Somebody is constantly trying to bring him down, and that's what motivates him the most.
People may think that because he's not the typical rap "stereotype", he can't make it big out there, but they're wrong. He is working hard to get his name out, and also using many different styles of music that will be different from every one elses ordinary. Jay's bringing something orginal to the rap game. He has worked with Skewby, Yung Flow, DJ Chev, Beezy, Young Q Tha Beast, and many others. Having his own studio makes it easy to record himself as well as other rappers, with the help of other artists. Jay is now working on his mixtape along with his own original tracks. "Imma Wyte Boi", produced by Skewby, is his newest solo single. Soon, he will have much more music out there for rap lovers to "bump" to.
On December 24, 2006 Jay was shot in the abdomen by a young man in Chapel Hill. He was rushed to the Med downtown, and taken straight into surgory. Doctors were'nt sure if he was going to make it. After removing his gall bladder, operating on his liver and other areas of his stomach, and then stitching a 7 inch opening back up, he was done with surgory, but no where near done with healing. He went from extremely high heart rates, to horribly high fevers, catching pneumonia, coughing up blood, and several nights of pushing himself to just stay alive. He had nearly 100 visitors coming to support him and make sure that he was ok. After spending Christmas eve, Christmas night, and New Years in the hospital, Jay was able to return home on January 4, 2007. He is still recovering and will have a long scar down his stomach for the rest of his life, but now he has a new motto, "What don't kill me, gon make me stronger". He thanks God that he is able to live another day, and thanks everyone over and over for showing so much of their support
