The Elizabeth Windau Trio was founded in 2005 by pianist Windau and bassist John Jacobs. In early 2006 drummer Mike Johns completed the Trio's intimate feel, but later accepted a invitation to perform with noted Cincinnati cover band Powerhouse. In his absence, the Trio expanded to a quartet and, upon occasion, a quintet. The Trio, Quartet and Quintet have appeared with some of the area's finest young drummers including Jake Reed, Jeremy Cunningham, Tim Hensley and Tina Raymond. Jacobs and Windau have also been recorded live in trio, quartet and big-band settings with internationally-known artists Brian Hogg (tenor sax), Jeff Coffin (tenor sax), Carl Weathersby (guitar), John Zappa and Gary Winters (trumpets), Liz Wu (vibraphone), Ted Karas (guitar) and others. Since forming, the Trio, Quartet and Quintet have made appearances at several Cincinnati-area locations including the historic Peterloon Estate in Indian Hill, the Dee Felice Cafe, and the Newport Syndicate Ballroom. In 2006, pianist Windau and bassist Jacobs accepted invitations to join the ranks of the Swingtime Big Band, one of northern Kentucky's leading swing bands and continue to entertain audiences with classic big-band swing. In 2007, Windau was honored with both a Tatum Award from the Three Arts Scholarship Foundation and a prestigious Corbett Scholarship Award for excellence in the study of jazz at Northern Kentucky University. Amassing performance credits with prominent localy-and nationally-known artists, the Trio's performers are dedicated to experiements in smooth and hard-bop jazz.BOOKING THE JAZZTET * * * BOOKING THE JAZZ'TET * * * BOOKING THE JAZZ'TET * * *Enjoy live jazz at your next event - the Quartet and Quintet are available for wedding receptions, cocktail hours, special-occasion dinners and corporate events.
