Steve Birkett

About Me

Steve Birkett has been performing for several years in various capacities. He is currently a member of international recording artists AVM (avmband.com). He is also a member of Community Christian Church's Music Ministry Team, serving at several of the Chicagoland campuses as well as doing both local and international missions' performances. "Not only do I play drums and percussion, but I sing as well. I do mostly background vocals in AVM but have gone 'up-front' at CCC as well as with AVM and other projects I've worked with." Steve has both extensive live and studio experience, having worked with AVM, AvenueMax, The Wild, Science, Woods, The John LaGrassa Project, and recently recording tracks for Julie Kaylin and producer Robert Mackey at the new SongWerks Studios. Steve is available to work for your live or recording projects at reasonable rates. He is well connected with other musicians so he can help find just about anything you might need, from guitarists to orchestras. Steve resides in Chicagoland but is available internationally as well. "In the spring of 2006 I travelled to Southern France to work with the CCC Music Ministry Team. GOD ROCKS! It was an awesome experience!" He has a large selection of vintage drums and cymbals ranging from the standard four piece kit to the extreme eleven piece kit. He also has many modern kits available at his disposal. Steve will put his heart and soul into his performance on your project. "I always try to play for the song. I try to be creative without overshadowing the song." Another thing Steve enjoys is bringing vintage drums back to life. "I've restored several kits now and find it challenging, relaxing and rewarding to bring back a piece of history. I also love helping new players choose the right kits for their needs. The great thing about drummers is the comradarie we have. It's all about sharing and learning from each other. It's a special brotherhood that I am proud to be a part of! You can contact me through this website for more information. Sounds Like:

My playing is a mix of all the musical styles I've listened to. I really enjoy most ALL kinds of music, so there is QUITE a variety of styles I learned from. I would say that my strongest suits are along the lines of rock, with a bit of pop and progressive mixed in. I excel in rock and pop with an edge! Some of my favorite drummers are Neil Peart, Phil Ehart, and Bun E Carlos. I also tip my hat to drummers Joey Kramer, Phil Rudd, John Panazzo, Tico Torres, Todd Suchermann, Ringo Starr, Buddy Rich, John Bohnam, Mike Portnoy, Bill Bruford, Alan White, Louis Bellson, and Ed Shaughnessy! Blessings to all of you for sharing so much with all of us! ROCK ON! Another favorite drummer of mine is Ryan Birkett. You can see him in action at YouTube/kickboyavm1, along with all the AVM videos.
