An eternal optimist that can find something positive in anything. I love my wife and my family of friends and feel blessed to have all of them in my life.
I love music more than can be explained, it's the most transcendental experience that we have on earth when your in sync with it. Rhythm was a gift that was bestowed on me that I am forever grateful for, and it's something that's driven my life in many ways. From breakdancing in the 80's, to taking up the drums after that, and eventually leading me to house music, it's been an omnipresent force. I've been dj'ing and throwing weekly/monthly events for over 12 years now and still love the feeling of being behind the decks with a rockin dance floor more than anything. I enjoy my job working as a Home Care Liaison for Advanced Home Care where I can make a subtle impact on patients lives.
My music career started 20 some years ago when my oldest brother got some turntables and we immersed ourselves into this new thing called hip hop. We had a bad ass breakdancing group called the Treacherous 3, I was Milkshake, along with my brother Ice Cream and our other member, the infamous Soda Pop, We actually won 1st place at the Winston Salem Collesium at a contest between the Egyptian Lover and RJ's Latest Arrival concert. Back when hip hop was fun and the electro that we all know and love was born. I got my first drum set at age 11, and was all into some Motley Crue and Guns n Roses stuff.. Yes I was rocking the mullet.
Once my other brother Kevin exposed me to the "Rave" scene in the early ninety's I found a new love of music and set out to learn the ways of dj'ing. After meeting Mike Soden and being given a residency at Babylon I soon met up with another like minded deep house music lover named Craig. We started the "L'OUNGE" parties at Babylon and I'm proud to say that we are still continuing the tradition now over 10 years later. Along with Cory Allison, Jerm, Michael C and Ryan Spaceboy we've been providing the triad with an outlet to spread the sounds of deep house music to all. From Babylon, to Sofa Bar, to Blue Hour, to Kababs and now to Solaris we seem to be the roaming soundsystem. I opened a record store called Choice Vinyl in 2002 in Greensboro and hung in there for a couple of years until the digital revolution forced us out of buisness. Oh well, I understand, I don't have $12 for a new release either.
I also played drums for a band called the Moe Greens which are in a hiatus right now, but for 4 years we played many local venues and were actually voted "Best Band in the Triad" by Go Triad 2 years in row.
Check us out every 3rd Friday @ Solaris for "LOUNGE" with yours truly, Cory Allison, Ryan Spaceboy and Jerm plus monthly special guests.
