Blind Idiot God

Intense Instrumental Progressive Post-Hardcore

About Me

Blind Idiot God released its first album on SST in 1987, a blazing instrumental debut that fused classical harmony and pedal-to-the-metal hardcore. The personnel was Andy Hawkins on guitars, Gabe Katz on basses and Ted Epstein on drums. They went on to release Undertow in 1989 and Cyclotron in 1992, all produced by Bill Laswell and featuring the signature and singular BIG mix of over-the-top dissonant guitar energy, highly creative composition. This is a band with a concept. Each record showcases the band's fluency in its three primary modes: a unique blend of extreme aggro post-hardcore, hard rock and most surprisingly pure dub. After a hiatus, the band resumed work in 2001, Tim Wyskida of KHANATE taking over drum responsibilities. Currently they are working on an album of new material and return to the stage summer 2006.The members of BLIND IDIOT GOD also perform in the Brooklyn-based instrumental band DOWNRIVER, which combines modal drone-oriented songs played on open-tuned guitars with soaring pedal steel improvisation.
