MUSIC WAS MADE TO TOUCH YOUR SOUL !

About Me

Mike Trant has been around for a while, about 20 years in fact ! He started in Tralee with the Ballad group "Skellig", before starting a Country Band called "Hector Pickaxe and The Floating Crowbars" which enjoyed moderate success as well as being a very fun time ! After that, a spell with Cork Band "Rhythm Junction" and then another country project with a country rock band called "Trailor Trash". Lately Mike's been moving back to his folk roots and with long time friend and old Army buddy Martin O'Regan has started to play a set which includes more and more old irish songs as well as some of the more contemporary Irish songwriters. A new live album of this set is in the works, with a rough recording date of early January next, and release hopefully in the early spring.

The Lakes of Ponchartrain

This is a very old song, nobody knows who wrote it, but my feeling is that it was written by an Irishman in US just after the American Civil War, who, after being on the losing side, found himsel...

Window Seat

The song 'Window Seat' is a song that I love very much. It's a bit of a departure for me, as it has a bit more instrumentation than usual on it, but it's very hard to say no to Andy Reynolds, who prod...
