Late summer of 2003 - Cathi (former SheSays drummer) meets Gudrun during a rehearsal session. It quickly becomes obvious that they would like to make music together. Valentin, a friend of Cathi's, and Andy - who joins them via a mutual acquaintance - complete the new band. Hartmut Pfannmüller is won as producer and the path for the first album is now paved.
That is the beginning of SheSays.
During Gu's pregnancy the band works with much enthusiasm on the first songs - which largely stem from Gudrun. One of the many numbers created during this period of intensive, mutual work is the subsequent hit single, "Rosegardens".
Three months after the birth of Gu's daughter, Zoé, the band heads for the studio. At the "Tone up" studio in Enzheim near Frankfurt, the band begins its first recording session with Hartmut's brother, Uli Pfannmüller. They prove to be a fabulous team, from which an intensive collaboration and friendship emerges. The second album session takes place in Ebreichsdorf with Robert Hafner, who likewise supports the band in its undertaking. The driving force of all those involved in the album realization is zeal and the belief in success.
Shortly before completion of the album, participation in the "2nd Soundcheck Special Contest" - Austria's largest band competition - happens at the perfect moment for SheSays. The band prevails against 600 competitors and places first, winning a record contract with EMI MUSIC AUSTRIA.
"Rosegardens" lands at 2nd place in the Austrian "Top 40".
The ensuing debút album "SheSays" quickly becomes number one album and is awarded gold. A tour throughout Austria follows, as well as countless appearances at home and abroad, including back-up band engagements with Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Toto, Seal, and Bryan Adams. Winning the "Amadeus Newcomer Award 2006" - the most prestigious music prize in Austria - is both a distinction and a motivation!
Work on the second album "Want it" - which is to be released on June 1st, 2007 - begins in autumn 2006. Cathi unexpectedly leaves the band in the middle of February - wishing to devote herself to new projects. David Mette joins the band as drummer for the new album.
Despite the changes, work on the new album progresses quickly and energetically - and for Gu, Andy, and Valentin the message is now all the more clear:
SheSays: "Want it"
The new, and thus second album, from SheSays heralds a new era of the band. Much has changed, much has been discovered and learned, the band has further developed. SheSays employs more rock elements. A powerful and emotional start is established with "Open your eyes" - the first follow-up single. But ballades, such as "Woman" or "Candles" still enjoy great favor.
In "Save me" from Queen a cover version would be found for the first time and discreetly realized, albeit with much feeling. Most of the new numbers were written by the band collectively, but this time there are also songs from each individual member. A colorful variety of songs has emerged - a moving collection of stories, feelings, and thoughts from Gu, Andy, and Valentin...a journey through reality and desire, longing and expectation.
"Want it" is thus a mirror and an evaluation of a new period of life and creativity for SheSays. With the new album "Want it", the band wants to reach out to its fans and likewise to countless new music lovers. And they are especially looking forward to presenting their new songs to large audiences on stage!
