the Pensioners

The Pensioners are Nick (guitar), Lach (vocals, guitar) and Allison (drums). We started just under 2 years ago after too much alcohol and bravado convinced us all that Allison should join and learn to play the drums. Best drunken decision ever made. She’s a natural and she suits our style.We are all self-taught: Nick learned to play his son’s guitar because it was gathering dust, Lach learned to play guitar (and lately bass) because he wanted to stop drumming and start singing up the front, Allison learned to play the drums because she had always secretly wanted to and the bourbon made her do it……Our songs are built around Nick’s riff-driven lead guitar and Allison’s engine room beats – simple, catchy and rhythmic. Nick’s amazingly broad musical tastes and an old-school approach to song writing have created a sound that we are told is unique and yet familiar at the same time.The Pensioners have played over 40 gigs since our first in October 2006 with many more to come. We love to play live and we put on a bloody good show. Who knows? Maybe we’ll see you soon at a venue near you……..
