Formed in 2006, Berkshires Red Burns Black are a return to good, hard rock ‘n’ roll. With influences ranging from Guns ‘n’ Roses, Led Zeppelin, Kings of Leon and Metallica, theirs is a sound that takes the best of these influences, but is at the same time undeniably modern, raw and relevant. For fans of Velvet Revolver, Guns ‘n Roses and Audioslave.
Not many bands can say that their first public performance was at Reading Festival, something Red Burns Black had achieved within 3 months of being together, playing one of their most popular songs to date, Lady, to a 400 strong crowd in the Nokia “Rock up and Play” tent. A performance that was so popular that the band was invited back to headline the stage on the final night of the festival.
After nearly 2 years of touring the South England circuit, this Berkshire 5 piece have shared the stage with Exit Ten and Fightstar at Offset Festival in August 2008, which also featured The Young Knives on the bill for the weekend. Other festival performances have included both Essex and Northampton Hot Air Balloon and Kite Festivals.
The bands potential has already been recognised by the press, with features in Berkshire weeklies “The Reading Chronicle”, “Bracknell News” and “Wessex Features” and airtime on BBC Berkshire Radio, Essex based Phoenix FM, Total Rock FM and Guildford based Radio Lion.
The band also reached the regional semi-finals in Surface Unsigned Festival 2008, which had around 750 bands enter the competition, who said of their performances, “This Reading five-piece wielded a Rock n Roll sword with classic rock on one side and hard rock on the other which cut through the audience like butter” and “True successors to Rock n Roll”. They have also played at Music Live, which was an event held at The NEC in Birmingham in November 2008, and the track “Out Tonight” was featured on a Ditto Live compilation CD, which featured songs from a range of unsigned artists.
2009 will see the release of their debut album, titled “Set This Night Alight”, which is being released through Casket Music in February. A single release and video will shortly follow the release of the album, with plans for more radio coverage and tours around the UK throughout the year.
