My name is Matt. I love movies. It's what I want to do with my life. From the epic adventure film to the basic comedy. Film is really the only art form that conveys so much in so little time and in such a real way. I have a lot of ideas and am steadfast in my beliefs, so it is important to me that I be able to express them in the most effective manner. And film is it.
I want to show respect to all human beings no matter who they are. And most of all, I want to show them we can be so great a people. I can't do this through words and images alone.... They aren't enough. I must lead by example and ask them what I can do for them. I want to help, and be the change i want to see in the world.
Gandhi taught that all we really have to do is care and show compassion to all peoples. That is true courage. That in showing love and kindness to someone we can change them for the better. And in doing that we can all change the world... That's one of the things that I want to do, before I die.
"The universe is wider than our views of it." That is how I generally feel but have trouble expressing. Like Thoreau, I too have lived in the woods and sort of in a self imposed semi-exile. Though I don't think I'm quite the anarchist he was. Maybe more of a free-thinker.
I am pro-choice. Not because I believe abortion is acceptable, but because it is not my choice or my body. I value life and love above all else, so I never would suggest anyone kill their child. However, I do not believe it is right to rob them of their right to choose. Because I value life so much I must state that war is not pro-life. I believe we need to question authority, at least on the philosophical and intellectual level. Questioning authority does not need to be verbally expressed or be some huge act of conflict. I just think we have to ask if what we're told to do is right. Otherwise, how will we know if we are really doing what is right?
