At the young age of 17 Donovan Smith better known as Don P is definitely hand crafted for the rap game. Hailing from Pensacola, Florida Don P has been surrounded by music all of his life. Don P recalls the rhythmic, bass pounding sounds wailing from his uncle’s room as a child. Once finally let in he was internally bit the hip hop bug. Son of a rapper/producer Don P learned the game quick and quickly developed and honed his own style. Making his debut on wax at the age of 13 on local record label then known as Armageddon Record’s Vito G mixtape “Ain’t S@t For Free Volume 1â€. Solidifying his position as a local celebrity amongst his generation from Pensacola to Jacksonville, and from Jacksonville to Miami. He has a style and swagger that captivates your attention before he evens opens his mouth. Don P has a work ethic like no other, with a endless catalog of tracks. The kid gets better and better with every one.
After shorts stays with two different clicks. Don P learned that not many shared the appetite for success that he hungered for and decided to venture off and form 2 Fly Entertainment with cousin Juan Matos aka Ying Yang. The two quickly became a dynamic duo. With Ying Yang backing and his uncle Jamar “Trump†Robinson of looking the business side. Don P proceeded to rock talent show after talent and to when several freestyle contest on the local circuit. Thanks to the help of Myspace, Don P has established fans through out the country.
Much wiser before his time, which can be shown be the growing age range of his fan base. He is definitely not restricted in content. The youngster definitely likes to party, possessing a special skill for being able to get the party started. But he also has the ability of painting the perfect picture of the problems that teenagers confront this day and time. To the point were even the most mature adult can feel it.
With a solid music foundation, dedicated support, an unbreakable will, and an increasingly growing fan base, Don P is well on his way to becoming hip hop’s next big thing. The hip hop community has yet to see an emcee this young yet this unique and seasoned to enter the game. Hip hop lacks the life and excitement that it use to have. Artist like 2 Fly Entertainments Don P posses the tools to bring it back. Proving to hip hop heads all over that hip hop is far from dead.
