About Me
The groundstone of Castle Beesenstedt, a manor in the community of Beesenstedt in the state of Saxony-Anhalt was laid in 1895 for the family Nette. In the year 1915, the controversial architect Paul Schultze-Naumburg redesigned the castle as it remains today. In the same year the castle became the domicile of the regional council of Saxony during the Second World War. In the post-war period a FDGB-school (a training centre of the political party in the GDR) occupied the more than 100 rooms of the castle. After the German reunion the building was vacant until 1996, when Armin Mey became the new owner. Today the castle is often used for weddings, decadent parties, film festivals and as film location for several undercover blockbusters.
