Whitfield On this historical day, passion, reason and courage will begin to blend our future Faith in God, Hope and change got us here Responsibility, community spirit, will help us make the vision clear Hope that new ideas will overcome tepidity and fearfulness We selected and have now elected A President of color with an unusual name He has not only made a reputation in history But that of “CHANGE” Spiritually anointed and appointed For such a time as this People of all diversities will always remember and reminisce A President that symbolizes something much larger than himself The content of character is represented in our newly elect Not the color of his skin….but the beauty within It was the heart of a people, who ached, fought and searched Collaborating, demonstrating a desire for change to be BIRTHED Oprah Winfrey’s endorsement is more about belief in change A respect for a friend who will up the integrity terrain Sobriety is nullified not a hint should be detected Personal commitment for everyone is all that is expected Embracing the vision of hope together we are connected To help the President of our country reverse Old habits, old ways, from ancient of days Will take tremendous courage to erase then regain Trust and hope….A Nation yearning for change still remains As we move forward in these difficult times It will take a minute to redefine Tightening up on our backstroke To help restore, hope that’s been missing from so long ago Helping our President to do what no other politician has done Giving us as a people a reason to unite Pulling our soldiers out from a war of greed a self serving fight The paradigm has changed America has gone from Jim Crow to Eating Crow This is not a blue or red state game of tic tac to We don’t have a black president but a president that happens to be black As a people together we will roll up our sleeves Lifting our Nation Higher from a cultural rape & disease In resources, education, financial security Dedicating ourselves to family and community Helping our President Elect in unity From the Lyrics of James Taylor We have a friend in President Barack Obama Releasing eight years of unadulterated political DRAMA We welcome a fresh voice …… the people’s choice President Barack Obama we rejoice as you pave the way Starting this January 20, 2009 Inaugural day!
