From a young age, Lunar was immersed with the feelings of music. Growing up with two opposing cultures, and a share of life’s unfortunate uncertainties, Lunar was kept mentally active with a glossary of controversial and complex emotions in which she initially converted onto paper as poetry and later, music. This was the beginning of an honest songwriter. Poetry has always been an intriguing and curious form of literature, one that Lunar describes as arousing to all the senses. Naturally, when immersing herself in songwriting, Lunar still allows the poetic phrases to unfold rhythmically and sing like musical phrases. Upon her souls discovery of this medium, not only did it become an emotional release but became the place she calls ‘home’, a place where there is no confusion.Lunar's passion and ambitions for music has maintained her actively engaged in various musical ventures. Exploring her vocal instrument and interest in musical styles she got her first tastes of the stage singing in several theatre productions with local theatre companies, ensembles, choirs and for numerous years with cover/original bands playing gigs throughout Melbourne. Along side stage experience Lunar further enriched her passion of music with scholastic studies and in 2007 graduated with a Bachelor of Music.In late 2007 Lunar recorded her debut EP entitled 'Poetry in motion', which found her collaborating with a handful of musically rich and generous people. Poetry in Motion will be independently released later this year, re-introducing Lunar and her music into the world.Initially classically trained, Lunar has thus far been exploring the vocal techniques and subtleties of various other traditions including jazz, soul, and contemporary singing. Her vocal style is an expression of all these traditions, harmoniously reflecting Lunar's connection with self and the world. Crafting her vessel for expression, her music and voice are not limited creatively by only theories and musical structure. Fueling every musical venture and decision, her connection with her initial souls desire to pursue music; to generate awareness and reflection of the self and our place in the world, has always reigned priority. Techniques, rather, allow one to explore their own uniqueness, honestly without limitation.Making music for the purest need of self – expression, and not to be abused as another avenue of self exploitation and indoctrination, at the expense of ourselves and others. Music can encourage change, shifting resistance into acceptance through awareness and reconnection of self.Lunar's music has been described as music that soothes the soul and an indulgence for all the senses. A delectable mix of musical styles and colours punctuated by busy and interesting rhythmic grooves. Vocally, Lunar explores her edgy and celestial timbres, tonefully rich, always delivered with sentiments, with a raw, but clear, unfiltered state of mind.During the songwriting process, Lunar is deeply engrossed in the sensations felt from her entire being and allows these living energies to seam themselves in and around her working ideas.
