i was a part of something that has now branched off in seperate scenes. i was a part of something that was fucking beautiful. a time when we had fun, a time when we werent afraid of being different, even from the other kids in our clique. we had our punk kids, our phychobilly kids, our goth kids, or metal and hardcore kids and our pure emo kids. it seemed that we were all the misfits from our particular tastes, we werent ashamed to have a mohawk with a bit of eyeliner or a studded jacket with finch sewn on it. we loved what we loved and didnt care if it clashed with other subcultures. i guess thats why we had such a close knit community within. some of us were underaged, some overaged and some even mid into thier twenties but no one cared. we partied like there was no last bus home or last train (which was often a big mistake) we relied on fruity lexia when we couldnt afford beer and relied on hungry jacks when we needed somewhere to sleep, eat and meet up. we used to go to shows and enjoy the music and atmosphere and everyone came. there was no "i would go but no ones going" or "i only like 1 of the bands" to us all that bullshit didnt exist. everyone went even if we didnt like the bands just to see our friends, and it was a blast. i loved listening to rancid one minute and finch the next. from now on im gonna be more true to myself and my past because if it wasnt for the pre-emo era i wouldnt be the man i am today.
