The Backbeat

The Backbeat formed in June 2001 when four Beatle fanatics were brought together to provide music at the opening of the Linda McCartney photo exhibit at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill's Ackland Art Museum. Paul Cole, Chris Chamis, and Andrew Edwards were longtime veterans of the NC music scene, and Dr John Covach was a professor of music at UNC, teaching courses in The Beatles and rock and roll history. We had so much fun, what was intended as a "one time" lark has become a 7 year musical adventure of over 350 shows in 4 states in front of an estimated 80,000 people! Covach left after 3 years, and his lead guitar spot filled by the phenomenal Jon Heames for the next 3 1/2 years. The new and current lineup includes two original members, Paul and Andrew, and the sensational Ron Parent, lead guitar and Zsolt David, drums.No wigs or fake mustaches here -- just a love of accurately recreating the music of the Fab Four from all periods of their career.
