Trond Baardsen

Trond Baardsens real name is Trond Helge Baardsen. He was born in the small oilcapitol of Norway – Stavanger in 1975, with an oilworking father and a musical hairdresser for mother. At the age of 7 he started to play the organ. Later on he was picked up to be a quireboy in Stavanger Churchquire. At the same time Trond continued his organ- and, a bit later, piano-playing. At the age of 19 he moved to Oslo, the capitol of Norway, to study music. He became influenced by the city..s emerging pop and rock-scene and became one of Oslo..s many hardworking musicians. During this millenium he has played in numerous bands, also with members who now plays in international known bands like “Kaizers Orchestra” and “Skambankt”. He has composed, arranged and also produced music in a wide range of genres, contributed on several albums and even worked as a bandleader for theater and musicals. During his years in Oslo, Trond Helge also picked up the guitar and started to write songs that he wanted to perform and sing himself. These songs are mostly written in a “singer songwriter” - kind of way, with guitar/piano and pen, influenced by various pop-rock-artists & bands like “The Magic Numbers”, “The Choral”, “Rufus Wainwright”, “David Bowie” and the Norwegian band “Motorpsycho” among others. His songs often circles around different aspects of personal life, and other weird stuff. He affects different genres like pop, rock, soul and more progressive poprock. Sometimes he also needs to step over the boundaries of jazz, musicals and humor. During 2005 TH decided to take the artist name TROND BAARDSEN. He wanted a name that was almost identical to his real name, because the music in this solo-project is almost identical with him. He picked some of his favourite musicians, found his beautiful pianoplaying girlfriend Hanne (who plays keyboards in the band at live perfomances;-), and decided to record an album. Trond Baardsen released his debut-album “In The Spot” (Grappa/Elevator) in October 2007 with release-concert at the old movietheater, Parkteatret Scene in Oslo. The same year he almost went bankrupt, got a daughter, had to take a fulltimejob as a musicteacher, and bought his first department ;-) What a year! In between all the other aspects of life, Trond (Helge) Baardsen plays concerts with his solo-project and his other projects as well. He cooperates with different musicians both in studio and “live” to renew his expression and the impulses of his music. Trond, with Helge or not, is a composing artist and a perfoming musician on a constant search for development, always living for his next gig.
