About Me

The Hebrew name “Shira” means song and poem. Little Ms. Shira wrote her first song for the voice and violin at the age of eight. “Winter’s On It’s Way” was played by the entire orchestra of PS221Q and remains posted outside the Principal’s office to this day. Since then, she has written dozens of songs in all different genres. Come to Class (Ms.Shira’s debut album) contains songs which draw upon styles from Afro-Caribbean, Funk Rock, R&B Soul, Blues, Reggae, Disco Boogie and Pop. This conceptual album seeks to take the listener on a self-reflective roller coaster ride through love. “I don't teach in a classroom anymore, now the stage is my school. I'm a learner for life and earner for rights!” says Ms.Shira. “ My daydreams took over my day job and the greatest lesson I can share is to cut doubt out. Once you discover your purpose in the universe you must do everything in your power to promote your personal efforts in the war for love and peace. I write my own program and push it into existence.” What will go down on your Purrmanent Record?
