About Me

DOUG HANKS is an active member of the Nashville Songwriters Association, International. He performs in and around the Inland Empire and Orange County, California with The Silverados, a country band that loves to rock. Raised on Merle Haggard and Buck Owens, Doug's upbringing 30 miles north of Bakersfield established solid roots in country music.
A veteran of the stage, his 1983 release, "Walking in the Father's Love" received extensive airplay in the U.S. and Canada. It featured Joe English on drums (home from playing with Paul McCartney & Wings). He has also published songs with Maranatha! Music. Doug also leads worship at Hillside Community Church in Alta Loma, CA.
The first Beatles appearance in 1964 on The Ed Sullivan show moved Doug to pick up his dad's guitar, a 1930's Regal, join two friends, and learn 'Gloria' and 'House of the Rising Sun.' Doug started writing songs in junior high school and recorded them on a JC Penney reel to reel tape recorder using a crude form of sound-on-sound to create overdubs. In 1968, he performed with "Prism", a folk group, and in 1971 he formed 'Sunrise,' a vocal group known for their tight harmonies. In the late 70's, Doug toured extensively with 'A New Song' performing in churches, camps, and community concerts.
From the mid-80s to 1999, Doug worked in churches and with churches helping them make transitions from traditional worship services to contemporary worship formats. He was a featured speaker at conferences, and every summer performed at youth conferences and camps. During this time, he published many worship songs.
He continues to write and record music. He is an active member of the Nashville Songwriters Association, Intl. His publishing company, Lambs in the Meadow Music (BMI), has published over 50 songs, and his worship music is cleared through CCLI.
When he is not playing music, Doug teaches 6th grade. And... he is married to the lovely Mary!
