Last Call For Action (formerly known as Funny Bone) is a pop punk band hailing from Long Island, New York. The band was formed around the summer of 2004 and started picking things up about a year later. The members of the band are Kevin D'Angelo (Vocals/Guitar), Jon Dugal (Bass/Backup Vocals), and Steven Zimny (Drums).Ever since their first show in May of 2005, they have continually progressed and improved their sound. They have shared the stage with bands such as Hate to Have to Go Back(Now known as This Year's Anthem), and Sunday Night Scene. They have also worked on their music with members of The Stereotype, Fly Away Phoenix and Phil from The All-Starz. Starting with the less complex songs such as Nails, their music has grown into a more mature, catchy sound such as displayed in "Waste of the Summer" which was included on their demo "No Hard Feelings," released in early 2006. The band prides themselves (? lol) in working hard to produce music unlike any other pop punk band today.
"For a bunch of 16 year olds, they pretty much kick ass and they du it very well" states Tom Gnolfo an avid fan and drummer from Break Your Silence. Being so young in a scene mostly dominated by teens over 18, Last Call For Action is holding their own weight. Often getting the short end of the stick and being pushed around by older bands the group is still making an impact in the Long Island music scene and plans to extend their influence to the rest of the world. They hit the studio in December of 2005 and had their first 3-song demo (as mentioned earlier) "No Hard Feelings" out by January of 2006 and sold an almost immediate 50 copies. The band boasts a fun energetic sound in compliance with a strong melodic vocal sound. Even with without the luxury of a 2nd guitarist, Last Call For Action maintains a powerful sound that keeps the fans coming to shows, buying demos, and most important- enjoying their music.
Separate from most younger bands, Last Call For Action has a strong vocal foundation on which it builds its exciting songs. The band experiments with reaching limits of the pop punk sound in order to put a different spin on all the music. By using creative images, the band strays from the common cliches and uses clever figurative speech to create relatable stories. They are not out to produce as many songs as possible, but to have as many of their songs as possible able to move or touch the audience in some way. Unlike the majority of young artists, Last Call For Action is aware of what has already been done and is not afraid to try something different. They are ready to push the envelope and deliver pop punk with a totally different approach then anyone has ever dreamed of. So get ready and a prepare for a huge year from Last Call For Action.
