2008 was amazing for me I would like to thank my friends,family and fans for their love and support!!Last year Jimmy Akingbola he was on our Television screens in the new police drama " Holby BLue(BBC1) " for 12 weeks and straight after that he became the first black actor to play Jimmy Porter in Look Back In Anger. With Only a weeks rest between jobs. His work has taken him from Theatre to Radio from Film to TV.Jimmy is best known for his role in the BBC1 sitcom The Crouches (series 1&2) by Ian Pattison where Jimmy played ..Dennis Dutton.. the dodgy businessman.Even though the critics had mixed feelings about the show Jimmy was still given great reviews for this performance, which lead to him being listed for a possible Bafta nomination. Jimmy has also appeared in a new comedy sketch show for CBBC called ..Stupid.. where he played the very popular character ..Jeff the Chef.. here he showed his comedy talent again and was voted by the CBBC veiwers as thier favourite character which means his episodes ae being repeated non stop. To show he can do drama as well as comedy Jimmy played ..Winston Silcott.. in BBC2s Award Winning Docu-Drama Who Killed PC Blakelock? Also he played ..Solomon.. from Caryl Phillips new book A Distant Shore on the South Bank Show. Two Episodes of John Sullivans Roger Roger directed by Tony Dow where he played ..Dion... Luke Kaliba in BBC1 Doctors and ..Gary.. in Slightly Filthy Show (Carlton TV) ..Guy Heron.. in Holby City(BBC1),..Black Ceasar.. in Blackbeard(BBC1),..Tyrone.. in a ..Jim Broadbent.. film called Longford(CH4/HBO. ..Jones in The Royal(ITV)...Gary..in the Bill(ITV) and last but not least jimmy again is showing his range by playing Police Officer " Neil Parker " in the New TV Police Drama " Holby Blue " (BBC1).Jimmy loves his Theatre he has Won Awards and worked at some of The top Theatres and with the Best Directors and Writers.Jimmys Theatre Credits include many appearances in repertory theatre at the West Yorkshire Playhouse, Birmingham Rep, National Theatre, Soho Theatre, Theatre Royal Stratford East. Soon after graduating Jimmy played ..Norm.. in Lucy Baileys Baby Doll (2000) which starred Jonathan and Charlotte Emerson which transferred from the Birmingham Rep to the National Theatre to Albery Theatre/West End. Also in September 2000 Jimmy played ..Mahaparashwa.. in Indhu Rubasinghams production of the Ramayana, which was compared to Brooks The Mahabharata and transferred to the National Theatre. The work did not stop there as Jimmy went on to play ..Byron Williams.. in Sir John Mortimers Play Naked Justice starring Leslie Phillips at the West Yorkshire Playhouse/Tour. At the Edinburgh festival he appeared at the Traverse Theatre as ..Marco.. in the smash hit dark comedy People Next Door directed by Roxana Silbert. Winning two awards the Edinburgh Festival Hit & Fringe First Award it transfered to Stratford Theatre Royal East in September 2003. At the Birmingham Rep in December 2004 Jimmy played ..Elvis.. in the beautiful play Behzti which sadly got stopped by protests from the Sikh community. Although in February 2005 he bounced back and acted alongside Roger Lloyd Pack and Shaun Evans in Joe Penhalls award winning play Blue Orange which was directed by Kathy Burke. Where he received fantastic 4 star reviews and a TMA Award(Best Supporting Actor) for his exquisitely unpredictable performance as ..Christopher... Winning the TMA Award for Blue Orange not only meant the world to him but it made him the first actor to win a Award for Blue Orange. Not stopping there he went on to work with the very talent "9/11 Blues" rapper/actor Riz Ahmed in the hit play Prayer Room. if you have not heard this tune yet go to his myspace now!! www.myspace.com/rizmc Most actors would be content with such a great year but not jimmy! He raised the bar again by acting along side the awesome Sir Ian McKellen in the dark new play by Mark Ravenhill(Shopping and F**king!) called "The Cut" which was directed by Michael Grandage(Guys&Dolls,Don Carlos) some people said its his best perfomance yet which caught the attention of the RSC(Royal Shakespeare Company). The RSC offered jimmy a part in the brilliant production of Henry VIII which was part of the Complete Works Season and again got fantastic reviews. 2008 saw Jimmy Akingbola play Jimmy Porter in Look Back In Anger & Othello in Othello for Frantic Assembley.Other Theatre Credits: ..Herods Chief Guard.. in Bill Alexanders Production of Nativity at the Birmingham Rep, ..Pete.. in Lisa Goldmans production of Playing Fields where he acted alongside Adam Deacon(Kiddulthood/Sugar House Lane) at the Soho Theatre & ..Courage Ashton..in Open White Spaces...Pedro.. in Debra Yhips production of The Changeling at the National Theatre, ..After the End.. for Roxanna Silbert at Plaines Plough and various characters in Ready or Not Raw at Stratford Theatre Royal East written by the very talented writer performer Ade Ikoli.(check my myspace videos for the Ade Ikoli Show!) For the third time in the last three years jimmy again performed in a play at Soho Theatre " The Christ of Coldharbour Lane ".Film credits include Anansi (Avista Films) directed by Fritz Baumann, in which he stars as ..Kojo.. opposite Naomi Harris (28 Days Later, White Teeth) and ..Dimples.. in Step Up directed by Adrian Browne in which he stars with Curtis Walker(Real McCoy) and Tamkea Epsom(3 Non Blondes,Big Life). ..Jarelle.. in The Car written and directed by Gil Brailey. Radio is something Jimmy really enjoys which explains why he was one of the Carlton Hobbs winners in 1999.
