DJ FLASH

Born In T DOT and raised in the Tri Cities, Flash first emerged on the scene as simply a fan of Urban music. Yet when it came time to get his hands on the latest Smif-N-Wessun song breaking on the radio, Flash discovered a little gem known as vinyl records. Like any beginning vinyl collector, eventually it becomes essential to listen to the crate you’ve begun building. The solution was turntables, and of course a mixer. It was at that point when Flash realized his previously undiscovered talent and the world was introduced to DJ FLASH. At the age of 17 and quickly understanding the makings of a DJ, Flash began perfecting his mixing and scratching and showcasing his talents on mixtapes and at local parties. His desire to deliver the Tri Cities the latest in Hip-Hop, R&B and Reggae was hindered by the ability to secure new music. It became apparent that if there was a new record to be heard, Flash had to have it!

While attending Fanshawe College, Flash started a weekly radio show on CHRW delivering the latest in Hip-Hop and R&B. It was to be known as “The Lockdown Show”. Eventually moving to CJIQ in 2002, DJ Flash has transformed “Lockdown” into one of Canada’s premiere Hip-Hop mixshows. You can find him every week, delivering the latest and greatest of Hip-Hop in the mix. Or maybe you’ve been blessed with a copy of one of DJ Flash’s popular mixtape series like “Throwback Records”, “Got It Locked” or “Summer Flava”. DJ Flash has cut, mixed and scratched wax in NYC and all over Ontario. If there’s a hot spot to go, he’s probably playing it. With various residencies like Fubar, UW’s Bombshelter, and Up On Carling, DJ Flash has been holding down the Southern Ontario market for over 5 years. Thus allowing him to showcase his skills with an impressive list of artists including De La Soul, Mobb Deep, Nas, and many more. His influences include Mastermind, One L, Starting From Scratch and Kid Capri.
