The University of Miami Hurricanes football team is a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference and one of the preeminent programs in all of college football. The University of Miami has won five national championships (1983, 1987, 1989, 1991 and 2001), all of which have come since 1983, making it the most successful college football program of the past quarter century.Since 1983, no school has won more national championships, won a higher percentage of its games, or produced more first round NFL draft picks than Miami . The program also holds the NCAA record for the longest home winning streak (58 games), which spanned from 1985 until 1994. In addition, two Hurricanes have won the prestigious Heisman Trophy: quarterback Vinny Testaverde in 1986 and quarterback Gino Torretta in 1992.The team plays its home games at the historic Miami Orange Bowl, located off-campus in the city of Miami. The current head coach is Randy Shannon, who replaced former head coach Larry Coker on December 8, 2006. Shannon was previously the team's defensive coordinator from 2001 through 2006.
