started my life's journeys down in Ft. Campbell, Kentucky, but quickly went on to Tennessee, then Germany, Virginia, Washington, and eventually made the great trek up north to Fairbanks, Alaska with my family when I was 14. I graduated from high school there and went to college at UAF for several years studying classical violin.
after hearing the crazy fiddlin of my friend Julie, and the late Thursday night bluegrass and old-time sessions at the Doghouse Pub, I started to break away from my classical studies and explore the world of fiddling. my time at the university didn't last long after that, so for the next several years I kept busy working random jobs and playing with my bands Hoe Slinger and Musala and whoever else would have me sit in.
Weekends were filled with road-trips galore, going from festival to festival, camping out in the midnight sun, closing down honky-tonks at 5am, endless jams on the front porch of the Golden Eagle Saloon, soaking at the hotsprings at 50 below, cooking up big ol' moose steaks for breakfast, dancing under the northern lights, and just having a damn good time all around.
Even with all those fun times, I've since become a snowbird, spending a good part of the year in Austin, TX. the sweet sunny south....nothing like sitting in the sunshine in February, eating some migas at Maria's Tacos, or two-steppin at the Broken Spoke, drinking $6 pitchers of Lonestar.
